Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  Weve only had this car for 5 weeks but we think its the best car weve had, certainly the best value. The car is very responsive on the road and has very little road noise. The outside appearence is nice but has no special pizzaz. The interior is beautiful in fit and finish. The breaking and suspension of the car are superior as is the steering. Turning radius seems a little bit limited but thats a small feature for us. Seating and cargo space are excellent. The I-35 is one of the few mid-sized cars with adequate headroom for rear seat passengers. We love the dashboard instrument configuration. Amenities are second to none.

  Ive just purchased my new QX56 in May of 2004 and I think it is the best vehicle Ive ever owned. Its luxurious, its the most comfortable SUV on the market with way too much room. I never worry about my safety with 6 airbags including side airbags. I feel the most safe Ive ever felt putting my son in his car seat in the back seat of my infiniti. Thanks infiniti for the rear camera. Your a neck saver. Im a Chiropractor and I wish all my customers had this wonderful feature so they wouldnt have to turn around everytime they wanted to see what was behind them.   Roomy, powerful SUV with advanced technology. Very comfortable seating with easy access to rear seats and easy conversion to 3rd row of seats. Attractive design both interior and exterior. Smooth riding even on dirt roads.

  This is a great car. I love to get in and drive it. Interior will scratch if not careful. Sound system is o.k.. Wish satelite receiver had more bells and whistles. If I didnt have a two year old in a car seat I would have had a coupe. Next time, I cant wait

  This is one fun vehicle to drive. We purchased used (17,000 miles)and are quite happy with the fit and finish of the 4dr G35. The performance is wild and it sticks to the road like a glove. Very comfortable on long drives too, but its real attributes is its performance and power.

  I have owned this vehicle for 20 months of carefree driving. It has performed well, with the exception that you should garage it for any snowfall. If they ever build an awd for the coupe, it would be terrific. Most fun luxury sports coupe on the market.

  Weve owned our G35 for more than a year now. Except for confusing dashboard controls, we love our car. On the highway it demostrates great stability and road fee as well as strong acceleration and powerful brakes. On a twisty road it is wonderful fun to drive. It is definitely NOT a run of the mill, boring sedan

  I love this car. It is a fantastic road car. I get "looks" everywhere I drive it. Tremendous horsepower from the V6. Works great in snow.
