Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  Great car, stylish, comfortable and fun to drive - 2013 Infiniti G CONVERTIBLE

  Bought a 3 years old CPO model with 26k miles, might as well be brand new, no wear or issues and a great dealership for support if I need it. Very quiet with the top up or down, no rattles or rough ride, and with the top down it could not be better. I am a big guy so the mid section area left to right when driving is a little tight, but workable. The engines performance is great and I like the sound as well, but it does get a little rougher in the upper rev ranges. My other car is a Lexus GS350 and the Lexus engine is much more sophisticated, but no more powerful. This is a very upscale car and does everything well. It has next to no trunk storage (the back seat area can hold lots of groceries if you need it), but thats not what it was built for! You cant go muddin in it either, so get over it. Its a fun sporty car for the weekend, not a commuter or road warrior. Plenty of those out there if you need one...

  Car of our dreams - 2007 Infiniti G35

  Sold our wonderful 2003 G35 sedan to buy our great new 2007. This is our four door sports car that puts the fun in our driving every time we use it. We have the luxury package, navigation package and tech package on her and are thrilled with all the features. Have found no defects in the first three months of ownership. Buy one and you will love her.

  I also own a G35 coupe and the sedan is every bit as pleasurable and performing. The 4 wheel drive finally got my wife out of an SUV and in hard rains its been extremely stable and predictable. Im getting 22.9 to 23.5 mpg on the road and about 19 to 19.5 around town. Im glad I bought the tech package as the laser cruise control when there are 3 or more lanes is a very nice feature. I dont and would not recommend using it on busy 2 lane interstates. Three things I dont like. When the wipers go on you have to manually turn the lights on. No automatic door locks once car is put in drive. The CD box in the trunk is a pain and makes loading luggage a chore and limits space. Get rid of it!

  Great car for the price, exceptional handling, acceleration & stopping power. Eye catching design; really looks better without the spoiler; navigation system a little difficult.

  Incredible sporty car. My buddy bought a Z, I waited for the G, and worth the wait. Most fun car I have ever owned and so much more economical to own than all of its competitors.

  After driving it for a month, I am still impressed with how fun this car is to drive. I gave up a BMW Z4 which had a harsh ride. The G35 ride is firm and sporty like you would expect. Mine is a loaded red 6 speed with premium package and both aero packages. I am picky about a radio, and I am very happy with the Bose system with speed variable volume and random disc play over the 6 disks/or each disk. This car has just the right amount of luxury features.

  Granted, I have religiously maintained this car since bought-new in Southern California in April, 2004 (Nov., 2003 "build date" on original window sticker), but I must say this is, apart from the peppy performance, BY FAR the most reliable vehicle amongst the ten I have owned since purchasing my first car back in the late 1970s - still my "daily driver" now 12 years later. Concierge-style Infiniti dealer service experience, separate from, and a definite cut above, the norm. Benefits from the well-known Nissan reliability, but with the sturdiest parts in the bin, being basically a more upscale Maxima. Soft, supple leather interior. Tremendous navigation system for the time period (birds-eye view a big plus), though Nation-wide coverage depends on purchase of separate (expensive) discs for differing multi-State "zones" if youre looking to travel cross-country. Other than routine maintenance and normal-wear items such as tires, windshield wipers, battery, etc., the ownership experience has been FLAWLESS. Stability Control keeps the car rock-stable in wet or icy conditions. Body integrity remains perfect: zero rust after 12-plus years. Athletic body stance, though not as "sexy" as (say) a BMW -FAR offset by the EXTREMELY minimal cost of upkeep. Tip: Buy the best all-season tires you can afford (ie. Bridgestone Turanzas worked well for me), as I noticed a definite difference in handling when "good rubber" was in evidence (never unpleasant, but downright smile-inducing when better).

  Total Sham!!! - 2014 Infiniti QX60

  26-28 MPG? What a sham! Ive had the car for 6 months, have approximately 5000 miles on it and average about 16 MPG! The car has been back over 3 times to the dealer. Each time they tell us there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. They even kept the car one day and took it on various trips on the highway, off the highway, idling in a parking lot, etc.… and claim that they were able to get the car up to 26 MPG. Since then, we’ve come to find out that the Hybrid does not work when the air conditioning is on. Really? I live in Florida! The air conditioning is ALWAYS on. It would have been nice if this were brought to my attention by the dealer, prior to me leasing the car.

  This my second year of drive Qx4. I love it. Only problem I have found is so far is in exhaust system heat foils. Runs like a charm.

  Great Car - 2002 Infiniti G20

  The car is beautiful, looks sporty and stylish. I got 5 speed with sport package. It is fun to drive it, but you have to get 5 speed. Interior set up and build quality are also great. I like the size of the car, not too big, not too small. Just right for me. The handling is superb. Also, I got this car with a great price.
