Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

This is my 6 month review of this vehicle (I posted 1/23/04). Ive driven 7300 miles and have not had any mechanical or build quality issues. I have had two planned services (3500 & 7500) and have been provided with complimentary loaner vehicles. On a 250 mile trip to Las Vegas, I got 25 mpg (and I was travelling between 80 and 85). The car runs smooth and quiet (I have not experienced any rattle or shakes that some have commented on). My Bose sound is great and my XM has worked flawlessly. I average 18 mpg in everyday commuter travelling. I enjoy this vehicle very much and I have not had any buyers remorse. This Infiniti product is a good choice.

Purchased new, and have to say this is an incredible car. Still have the original Brembo pads. Ive modified the suspension with Eibach Pro springs, and have added a few goodies like a Vortech Supercharger. Pushing 390 rwhp, and car runs great. This car is a head turner, and I have had many people telling me how great it looks. Comfortable highway car, handles great, and still gets 23 mpg highway with all that horse power.

A pleasure to drive. Its so easy that sometimes you feel like you dont have to steer it. A luxury car at an affordable price. I think they raised the price in 2002

  • fun as hell - 2003 Infiniti G35

I just bought the car yesterday. My review is not based on much history, but from what I have seen so far, it is going to be a beautiful friendship. The car is so much fun to drive. It handles well, especially on the corners. The auto/standard trans makes it a blast to drive. It is very comfortable on trafic, and on the go. The Boss system sounds great. The noise from the road is almost nill. The back seat can actually hold an adult male, or lay the back seat down to hold lugage or clubs. I would buy this car all over again. It is also nice to not see any others of this model on the raod. Be ready for lots of looks. Enjoy.

  • Awesome Bang for Buck - 2007 Infiniti G35

I love this car after driving the G35x sedan (model is AWD). With 309 HP generated from a 3.5 ltr V6, it has plenty of pickup and handling. Acceleration is smooth and powerful when you need it. Steering feels tight without feeling heavy. Its a very easy car to drive. Outside, its got a very sporty look. Clean lines make this a very attractive car. Inside its all luxury considering the price. The car looks expensive, but compared to its competitors, its a real bargain. I highly suggest a look if you are in the market for a sports sedan (oh and by the way, its been named top sports sedan 4 years in a row by a national rating agency). Very pleased with it (this is my second Infiniti).

  • Its Mostly Good - 2009 Infiniti G37

Ive had this car for 3 months, 2000 miles. Overall, great car. Comfortable, good performance, great fit and finish. Getting 20-21 mpg mostly city driving. Nitpicks... While the seating is comfortable, the head room is tight. Unless I sit near the bottom of seat height adjustment, my heads hits the roof, Im 5 11". Bose radio is good, not great. Transmission lower gears are not well matched, winds up to quickly going, jerky when slowing down.
