Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • The BMW 3 Series for sensible people - 2003 Infiniti G35

Great car with a great value. A few minor issues as expected with a new model like rattles and stereo failing, but excellent warranty coverage made up for it. Great blend of performance and luxury at a good price without all the snob factor baggage.

  • Wants to be let loose - 2007 Infiniti G35

Tons of research of the usual culprits, just couldnt justify the extra $15k for BMW cachet. I got the Premium package. Excellent value. Great torque and HP. Need to be light on the pedal because she really wants to run. Beautiful interior with loads of great features standard (bluetooth, sun roof, incredible sound system, etc.). I have long airport commutes on a two lane highway - the ability to blow around slower moving vehicles is incredibly refreshing. Love the power and handling.

  • Better SUV - 2006 Infiniti QX56

My wife and I were about to purchase the Mercedes GL450 when she stopped in to drive the QX56. The truck is a great mix between comfort and braun. It sounds like a truck, rides like a car, and hauls everything. It also has all of the bells and whistles of the 21st century. Bluetooth, Navi, great seats, large buttons, and a jammin stereo! The style was a little different, but once you drive it you see the truck in a whole different light!

  • Great for long trips. Poor fuel ecomomy - 2002 Infiniti QX4

The "Q" is an awsome machine. Fun to drive and lots of get-up-and-go! Other than the thirsty engine, This vehicle is flawless.

  • Best bang for the buck! - 2002 Infiniti I35

Extreemly powerful, great looks, fun to drive. Nice option package. Looked at Lexus,Jag,BMW,Acura, nothing came close in bang for the buck.

  • BMW Beater - 2004 Infiniti G35

What a car!! Ive owned 4 BMWs previous to this purchase and had never considered anything else - until Bangle Bungled the design and ruined a great car. This vehicle is awesome - will blow the doors off my E39 and has tons of aftermarket performance support. It just keeps getting better. More interior room and more usable truck space than the Bimmer. My only desires would be for a few more features: outside mirror tilt on reverse, telescoping wheel and mirror/steering wheel memory integrated with the seat memory.

  • Great car for the money - 2007 Infiniti G35

Great value, very reliable, and fun to drive. My only complaint is the low gas mileage.

  • Northwest QX-er - 2006 Infiniti QX56
    By -

We drive in the Pacific Northwest and this BIG Urban Assault Vehicle definitely comes in handy in our fickle weather. It also provides a high degree of safety on our busy freeways. This is my wifes vehicle and she loves it. You ride HIGH and safe, comfy in the leather surroundings. Controls are very intuitive and easy to use. We enjoy the automatic rear hatch, the back-up TV, nav system and the stereo is high-end too.

  • Golly G! - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Unbelievable car! The performance to luxury ratio is right on. At the price, I dont think you can do better. Infiniti got the whole package right with this car. The ride is firm, but when you can carve up a road like the G35, all is forgiven. Very impressed with interior space/ergonomics. I dont recall any other car even considered a worthy competitor to the BMW 3 series by the auto press.

  • A car everyone will love! - 2009 Infiniti G37
    By -

Just got my new G37 convertible and I LOVE it. Thought about the new Lexus convertible, but didnt like the way it looked. The Infiniti is completely awesome. Great power and all the bells and whistles. The Infiniti dealership treated me like I was some kind of superstar. Ill never buy another car anywhere else. Im impressed with the car, the service and the dealership. What more could you ask for? Ill have this car for a long time.
