Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Not a junker! - 2002 Infiniti QX4

I bought my QX4 from a salvage dealer. It had been totaled and required a lot of repair work, but because of the salvage title, it was less than half the bluebook price. OK, a gamble, but everything worked perfectly. My first long-distance trip up the coast left me giddy with delight at the performance and handling of this vehicle. Outside temperature of 112 degrees, a very long steep grade to climb.. I left air conditioning on full blast, cruise at 70 mph..and the QX4 ran up the hill like it was going downhill. Temp gauge didnt move. I knew then this was a keeper! Four years later and Im still in love with this vehicle. Careful smooth driving gets me 15/16 mpg city, 23/24 highway.

Excellent car and fun to drive ! More car for your money compared with other cars in similar categories. I get around 17-18 MPG, but whos complaining if you can afford a car over $50K. The sports package really makes a lot of difference if you like a little hard driving once in a while.

  • Its A Thrill to Own - 2003 Infiniti G35

This car sits next to a 2001 Acura CL type S in my garage. My S is good; my G is great. The car has a great sound, outstanding performance in acceleration and the gas mileage is tolerable; 25 at 80. The diamond grafite color goes so well with the mags and the tone inside the headlights. Leather is very well fitted inside. Travel is really possible as there is plenty of room for luggage and golf clubs. People turn to look at it and I love to see it first thing when I go to the garage to leave.

Excellent performance and handling. All of the most important luxuries and eye catching appearance. If you like a little class with the pizzaz, this is the car for you.

  • close to perfect - 2003 Infiniti G35

I love this car. Havent had this much fun driving since my sweet 69 SS/RS Camaro. Great acceleration, great handling, nice interior, and one of the most beautiful exteriors Ive seen. Incredible lines. Black exterior with graphite interior makes a great color combination. My only regret is that its my wifes car and I only get "weekend custody"!!!

  • I still love this car. - 2002 Infiniti Q45

This is the best car Ive ever owned. By now, Im usually bored with my vehicle and ready to replace. Almost 4 years later and I still love my car. I am the 3rd owner of my 02 Sport, I bought mine in August 2011 with 116K for $7K, a steal at the time. It now has 165K on the odometer and in those 50 thousand miles all Ive had to fix was one wheel bearing (other than routine tires/brakes/plugs). Thats fantastic. The routine maintenance is costlier than most cars but not wallet breaking. This is like a "Japanese BMW" that doesnt ride so stiff.

  • My 3rd one! - 2017 Infiniti QX70
    By -

I love this car so much, Ive owned 3. Although the 1st two were the FX37, my 3rd one, the QX70 is the same vehicle with just a name change. The only thing I would like to see would be an upgraded technology package to stay aligned with its closest SUV competitors, the BMW and Volvo.

  • Keeps getting better! - 2016 Infiniti Q50
    By -

So, I had my 2015 Q50 3.7L V6 AWD Sport Sedan for about a year and a half. Loved every aspect of the car. Infiniti introduced a 3.0L TT Engine last year and so I made the switch (I lease my cars - the best way to go!) I absolutely love the new engine! The throttle/acceleration response is to the point and almost instant! I drive this car daily back and forth to work and some fun weekend drives and am very happy with it! This time, I added the Drivers Assistance package to give me some safety features and Im glad I did it. The only thing that I dont like (it has more to do with my personal preference - nothing wrong with the feature itself) is that the forward collision warning and emergency braking assist kicks in when Im zipping in and out of traffic. I know I can turn this feature off but for the 10-20 seconds of "fun" driving, I wouldnt want to keep having to go to the settings to turn the feature of, even though it can be turned off just by turning the Traction OFF. This car is very smooth and it can get up to speed in no time so just in case... I never turn the traction control off. Over all... very happy with the change and upgrade. Ill probably switch to the RedSport next time around and get a feel for it that beast as well!

  • Fun to drive - 2003 Infiniti Q45

After comparing major features among all other luxury sedans, I am glad that I chose Q45. All I can say is it is so much fun to drive.
