Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Drives well but interior quality is bad - 2004 Infiniti G35

I spent a lot of time comparing and researching cars before buying the G35 Sedan last year, and I am very dissapointed with my choice. Dont get me wrong the main reason for buying this car was drivability - and this car drives very well. However I paid $35000 (paying more to get the excellent Bose stereo), and I am amazed that the interior materials are so cheap and the build quality so poor that even with Bass at zero every song is accompanied by annoying rattles from the door panel in my left ear. I have taken the car in several times, but they dont seem to be able to fix the problem. My last car was a VW GTi which was a lot less expensive but the interior had a superior fit and finish.

Hung on to my Honda Accord V6 Coupe for as long as possible (wife, 2 small kids and an SUV). I was looking for a 4-dr sports sedan that offered sportiness, luxury, and room for 4. I set my sights on the G35x as well as the BMW3. Once I had a look at the new lines and interior of the 2007 G and took it for a test drive a clear winner was declared. The G35 offered nearly everything that the BMW 3s had with better reliability and for way less money - performance and value!! After 10 months, and 15,000 mi. I just cant say enough good things about this car - Im too busy driving it.

  • Almost heaven - 2006 Infiniti M45

You can spend over 80 thousand or less than 30 thousand, this car gives you everything you could desire in every car of every level. The ride, the comfort, the build, the smart intelligent intergration...Nothing was left untouched about the car. For those who desire that name of lexus, and mercedes think again. This is a must have car. I am a owner of a mercedes and lexus and acura, however this car takes the prize. You have to drive it to believe it.

  • Affordable price for a luxury car! - 2005 Infiniti G35

I bought the G35X (AWD)with the premium C package for $33300. The price cant be beat for the quality. Nothing about the car felt cheap. Soft leather seats and streamlined dashboard gives the interior a refine look. The 280 hp engine has a nice roar to it. It has a sporty feel and handles well on corners. You can easily cruise at 80 mph without knowing it. The dealerships internet manager told me to always shop over the internet for a car. They are allowed to give a much lower price than the showroom guys.

The Infiniti G35 is a pleasure to drive and maneuver in traffic, up hills and around curves. Also is easy to park in difficult parking spaces. Responds immediately when additional power is needed.

Absolutely love my G35S. The design is gorgeous, and I have the black interior with silver accents, and it is extremely sharp and comfortable. 308 HP, pulls really strong. BMW 335 destroyer!

  • Infiniti hits the mark - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Infinitis new G35 hits the mark on almost every front. Power and handling are outstanding. Comfort is also a big plus. With two kids over 6 feet tall the Infiniti is the only sport sedan that would fit. Overall a great car.
