Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • G35, the envy of your friends - 2005 Infiniti G35

This car is a head turner. The sport edition has a wonderful growl to it. Power is never an issue. The car has a solid feel. Handling is top rate. I drove a Z before purchasing a G35 and the G35 puts the Z to shame. This is one top rate car. If you are in the market for a sports car but want more amenities, the G35 is what you should be looking at.

Bought this car for $13,500 Cdn with 85K kms on it. Took it immediately to a recommended aftermarket performance shop and dropped another $3000 for a new clutch, tune up, air intake, exhaust, fluids, etc. My opinion of this vehicle mirrors the majority of the comments. Its fast, luxurious, and reliable - but its best feature by far is its value. BMW, Lexus, & Audi simply cant touch this car for the same price. Although I have a few performance goodies on it, I still surprise many vehicles costing a whole lot more. As a used car value, the G35 is definitely one of the best out there. Is it as good as the German cars - maybe you should ask the BMW drivers who look at my tail lights.

I test drove the BMW 3 series and the Lexus IS 250 before buying my Infiniti. The Infiniti had the best ride and the most power out of the 3 cars I drove. The BMW interior was plain and the Lexus had no power. So far my car has been a complete pleasure to own! I got mine in black and everywhere I go people compliment the cars looks.

After 3yrs of pining and researching and pouring over reviews of the Lexus and Audi, my husband suggested this car and the decision was made and purchased within 24 hours. I hadnt considered Infiniti at all but when my husband and I saw the Spring Event Sale, I went the next day to view it. Long story short, I loved it from the start. Its sexy, fast, comfortable, and great buy and the sound system is awesome! My husband now calls me a "Thumper" b/c I all of a sudden like my music with a lot of bumping bass. I got this car for my 40th birthday and I really couldnt be happier! Everyday I fall more in love with this car. The best part is I dont see my car at every turn/light!

  • Big mistake - 2006 Infiniti M45

After owning from Porsches (11) to Bmws (4) and various American cars spanning over 45 years, this rates as one of the most overrated and troublesome vehicles I have owned. What makes it worse has been no factory support for these problems, which have been mostly electronics that control safety function such as ABS,Traction Control,Etc.The selling dealer service manager did everything he could to solve the problems, even improvising on his own but was limited by the factory representatives. Back to German cars, forever!

  • Fun but problematic - 2005 Infiniti G35
    By -

Ive had the car for about a year and a half now. Its been a lot of fun to drive, great acceleration and handling. Youve heard it before, the gas mileage isnt that great. We get a lot of snow around here and the all wheel drive has been great. The problems have been in the quality of the car. 2nd day it was back in the shop for a new transmission contol valve (2 weeks). Since then Ive dealt with a leaky back window and now a loose ground wire in the dash and replaced a wheel bearing. Yikes! Im scared about what its going to be like when the warranty runs out.

  • A Pearl of a Car - 2003 Infiniti G35

The lease on our car was up and we went shopping! We drove Mercedes C-class, Volvo, Lexus (ES 400 and IS300), Audi and BMW 3series. We were all set to buy a BMW when we had trouble with some rather arrogant and game-playing salesmen, so we walked away from the deal. Boy, are we glad we did! The Infiniti G35 is by far the best car in this class both in performance, features and "bang for your buck" that we drove. The 260 hp engine simply knocks you off your feet and the ride is smooth as silk, yet sporty. We could not be happier with the car in looks and performance. It deserves all the accolades it has received.

  • 2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe - Solid and Fun - 2004 Infiniti G35

The 2004 Infiniti G35 Sedan has great power and sharp looks. The car is very low to the ground, and I ran up on a curb, scratching under the front bumper. (Ouch). The driver seat has the feeling of a jet cockpit, and I feel in total control. There is a blind spot in the back as the car slopes down, but is managable. The suspension is tight, but Ive noticed more road noise than with my old Maxima. Not much room in the trunk, but that is not why you would buy this car. Overall, Im happy with my purchase, and could not find a better "mid life crisis" coupe at this price.

The instrument panel is very attractive with out effecting the need for being functonal. Instrumentation did not leave me wanting! The comfort of the seats and color co-ordination with the hardwear; first class. they just didnt miss a beat from the rear view monitor to the navigation system and ever thing in between.I would like to know what if anything they left out. The exterior is a combination of the look of power and style just what i was looking for in an suv. Under the hood total power and acceleration more than I can use.
