Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • A wonderful ride and excellent buying experience - 2012 Infiniti M

The cabin is absolutely luxurious, with a very sporty feel. All of the materials feel wonderful (I got the Premium and Deluxe Touring packages, which add a little to the experience). It is whisper quiet, has LOADS of power, and an amazing array of gizmos. In searching, I ended up visiting dealerships in two different states, and they were both really great. I bought it at Cochran Infiniti in Pittsburgh, and they include a pick-up service where theyll drop off a loaner Infiniti and take your car to service (even though we live 80 miles away!).

  • PHENOMENAL CAR- BUT! - 2004 Infiniti I35

WONDERFUL CAR,GREAT VALUE- ONE DRAWBACK IS POOR SHOCK ABSORBERS.DOES NOT TAKE REASONABLE BUMPS WELL. GOING BACK TO HAVE SHOCK/STRUTS CHECKED. BACKSEAT PASSENGERS COMPLAIN ALSO..OTHER THAN THAT,STYLE IS GOOD BOTH INSIDE AND OUT. AUDIO EQUIPTMENT ON DASH COULD BE MADE MUCH SIMPLER TO OPERATE.PROGRAMING THE TUNER/STEREO/CD PLAYER GETS PRETTY INTRICATE WITH TOO MUCH DETAILS AND UNNECESSARY OPTIONS THAT BECOME MIND BOGGLING.

I forgot to add that I love the 14 speaker Bose system in this car! 5.1 surround sound is just unheard of in a vehicle until now! Wonderful! The 6-in-dash CD changer and DVD in the center console is great as well! This car is like a mobile home audio entertainment system almost. The heated and cooled front seats are great too!

  • Pitfalls - 2006 Infiniti G35

By the time I hit 50,000 The main computer, Blue Tooth, and CD player had to be replaced. At 67,000 the passenger side airbag and seatbelt sensor had to be replaced. That repair didnt solve the problem so the seat had to be replaced. The seat was a $4,000 seat. The dealer did replace the seat free of charge because of my service history. I switched from a Volvo to the Infiniti hoping it would be more reliable but that has not been the case. The car is comfortable and drives well but I would not purchase another one. My dealer has been great.

  • G37X Sedan - 2009 Infiniti G37

The car has a real nice ride to it and so far Im very happy with my purchase. I havent had it that long to really comment on the mpg but so far its about as advertised. I only have 2 complaints about the car, 1) when you take your foot off the gas and the car begins to slow down it has a rough downshift from 3rd to 2nd. Not something youd expect from an auto. 2) the brake pads give off way too much brake dust.

Driving has been a pleasure so far but have not encountered any real adverse weather conditions yet. Have had to have the complete gps system replaced at 3,000 miles. None of the controls would work including the cruise control. Poses a serious threat should you be caught in some inclement weather if you cant defrost your windshield
