Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Passenger air bags are part time - 2013 Infiniti JX

I was told to move to move around in the seat by the dealer. In 20 miles the light did not go off until we stopped the car and restarted it. Is Infiniti waiting for a class action law suit? Beware of this problem your sales rep wont tell you.

  • Nice looking, thats about it. - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

I like the way the car looks, but thats about it though. In the first year I have owned this vehicle, I had the driver window repaired, the heated seat go out, the $300 third brake light go out, the clear coat on the wing peel, the rear leather in the rear panel fall off, the $400 front brakes replaced and I average about 20 mpg on the highway and I dont have a lead foot. The gas mileage is about the same as a full-size pickup. We own two other Infinitis and no problems like this one. Good thing the car has a good resale value. I am buying a truck. The gas mileage is about the same and doesnt require premium fuel.

  • Where is everyone comming from - 2001 Infiniti I30
    By -

I see that most of you rate the 2001 I30 a 10. Well I own 1 and it is far from a 10. my behind is killing after a 45 min. drive. to much wind noise. maybe all of u upgraded from a Cavalier!

  • do not buy this car - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

I have had this car in for service items 4 times, (1)window off track, (2)clutch slipping, (3)drivers seat broken, (4) interior falling apart, first off the warranty is horrible, I have been asked to pay for parts, and it seeems as if the drivers seat falling apart was my fault,(still waiting for parts from Japan 4 weeks, have you ever tried to drive a manual trans. with a seat that slides 4 inches front to back with a press of the gas petal) Although service department is world class (third world), I would not recomend a G35 or Infiniti to anyone! Save your money!!

  • Not a comfortable ride. - 2004 Infiniti G35

Everything is good about the car except for the plastic interior, hard suspension, and uncomfortable seats.

  • very poor tech package - 2016 Infiniti Q70
    By -

If you want great luxury car without tech package - it your car, no apps, no Bluetooth texting, their in touch app is a joke, otherwise driving perfect, and perfect 360 view camera for the price almost $60k

  • stranded again - 2005 Infiniti QX56
    By -

My car is stuck in park again. First time, service mgr said it was a bad shifter. 2nd time my cell phone charger was blamed for blowing the fuse leaving me stranded in a parking lot at night. This is the third time Ive been stranded. My cell phone charger was not even in the car. It is beginning to rattle too. I wish Id never traded my Lexus.

  • Dont buy! - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

After owning this vehicle, (2nd owner) for 3 years I have replaced the whole braking system 3 times, the stereo console quit which had to be replaced at $1000 and then I now have to replace the whole engine at 140,000 km. For a luxury car this is the absolute crap. I will never buy Nissan/Infinity again. Inifinti customer service is a waste of time. Dont Buy!

  • Discomfort Drivers Seat - 2017 Infiniti Q50
    By -

If you are 60" or over the driver seating is very un-comfortable..Drivers who are 60" and over test drive before you buy..

  • Good engine - but issues are usually expensive - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

11 yrs and 135,000 kms basic city use. Durable, however these are the issues that are costly. 1. Brakes - they wear out quicker than most cars and are expensive. 2. Radio/AC malfunction in most models is a costly dealer repair. 3. Some oil leak issues are common 4. Self repairs are not easy for this model, replacing the battery and headlights etc. Otherwise this model is satisfactory for a durable engine and I would rate it a 7/10 for satisfaction.
