Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Puts a smile on my face - 2003 Infiniti G35

I just purchased a 2003 with 29,000 miles about a month ago. What a thrill to drive! My last 2 cars were an Acura CL and VW Passat, and the G35 is by far the best of the bunch due to the engine. I love driving it, and there is tons of power on hand regardless of speed. If the first month is any indication, I look forward to buying another in about five years.

  • Love it! - 1999 Infiniti I30

I bought my i30 used and have had it for just about a year now. I absolutely LOVE IT! The transmission is the smoothest of any v6 Ive driven to date. Besides a strange rattling noise that went away as quickly as it came, I have had no problems with it. The car is a pure joy to drive.

Overall, excellent vehicle for money. I am a Nissan fan, but Nissan dealerships may be the worst. Infiniti of Raleigh has been great.

  • AWD car just in time for the 2011 snow storm - 2007 Infiniti G35
    By -

I got this car on a sat in Jan in place of my 2000 Nissan maxima, 4 days later a big storm hit while I was at work, when I got off a pile of snow was in front of my car from the snow plow, in my old car I would have to dig out first, but in this I just pressed snow mode and drove right through it like it was nothing then got up the hill again old car would have struggled, on the back road that I have to use to get to work a small tree was down drove over it slowly, felt like a speed bump, then a neighborhood that was unplowed I drove in it like it was nothing, my first AWD car and I love it, the main reason for getting this car other then it has the look and feel like its cousin Nissan

  • Best Bang for your Buck - 2005 Infiniti G35

While researching mid-size sedans under $35,000, I found that the 2005 G35 sedan is "hands down" the best value. While in all honesty I would rather be driving the BMW 3 series, by the time you add on all the features that come standard on the G35 (such as leather) to the 3 series, youre looking at at least a $5,000 difference. The G35s handling, while not as tight as the BMWs, is quite capable of almost anything you can throw at it. All in all, if youre looking to stay under $35k, the G35 is your best bet. I am very happy with the G35s handling, acceleration, and appearance.

  • Regret 0% of my buy - 2005 Infiniti G35

Oh my gosh, is this an awesome vehicle or what. I bought it today, and have been looking at Lexus IS350, and ACURA TL. Hands Down, this vehicle performs better than both on its worse day. The staff at Infiniti of Austin is Bar None Top Notch. I have been in the Car business for 5 years, and have never had such an amazing experience. Will def. buy a new Infiniti Next Time.
