Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Traded my 540i for more car and service - 2003 Infiniti Q45
    By -

My purchase of my 2002 Infinity Q45 Sport/Premium (Silver with Black interior)was highlighted by the fact that I also got rid of my 1998 BMW 540i. I traded a 1994 Q45a in on the BMW, and I was completely ready to get another Q. Excellent build quality. Superb use of materials. Not "in your face", but still possessed of cache. Great gadgets (reverse camera is very cool, and it works). Dealer service experience second to none. Really. I highly recommend this car for anyone looking for performance, quality, dealer experience, and cache. Fantastic! Oh, did I mention the price? Ridiculous. They could easily charge 10k more for this car.

Fun to drive, although sluggish off the line with an annoying hesitation while the engine hunkers down. Sonar cruise con. is useless when you are an agressive driver. Joystick isnt accurate. Voice recognition is cute but my finger isnt broken. Awesome sound system. Horrific gas mileage. A/C is great if u live in Alaska.

  • Why buy a Z - 2003 Infiniti G35

I have looked at many cars from a 330 to a 2002 sc430 and a corvette I was in the market for a $35,000 car that is fun to drive. I have found it the G35 is a blast and I am enjoying it everyday I am trying not to put miles on it but that is hard to do.

  • Better than a 3 series - 2006 Infiniti G35

Vehicles handling and acceleration, is comparable to the 330i. Comfort and roominess is superior to same. Lexus has nothing that compares in this price range.

  • GreaT!!! - 2005 Infiniti G35

Amazing acceleration, 280 horse power and the sound of the engine and exhaust… Worth every penny. Strong, sexy, fast, quick, reliable. I still dont understand why it is not as expensive as it should be, but good for me. Its been 9 months Ive been driving Ininiti G35 Coupe, and I appreciate each and every minute of it. This car is better for those who know about cars and appreciate a powerful engine. Bose sound system is very good, support suspension makes it even sweeter. This is just a great car, its performance will amaze you. Smooth… For those who know how to drive stick shift and dont mind driving in the traffic, manual is much stronger... I test drove it, and was amazing.

  • One great used car out there - 2000 Infiniti G20
    By -

Bought it a month ago (Touring, 5 spd) for around 6K. With 6K, choices are limited but I can say a used G20 would be way better than other car in this price range. I am very satisfy with this purchase.

  • Not What I thought It Was - 2008 Infiniti G35
    By -

I bought this car used thinking that it would be the best car that I would ever own. It turned out to be ok, but was a big let down. Driving it off the lot I felt great I thought it was a reliable car for my wife. In the Arkansas rain my wife hydroplaned and ended up in on coming traffic. The so called traction that this car has is supposed to help it stay on the road but it doesnt and when the slip light comes on you are already all over the road I thought it was just my wife driving bought some $1000 tires to go on there to make sure she was safe and then it happened to me but I was able to keep control of the car. AC runs very loud.

  • Great Value - 2004 Infiniti I35
    By -

Before buying this car I didnt know anything about Infinitis, now I dont know that I will buy anything else. The ride is so smooth, the comfort is amazing, and the features never stop pleasing. I regularly drive from New Haven, CT to Boston, MA, (about 2 hours) and I never get bored or get stiff. The climate control kicks in immediatly from cold to hot or vice versa. It accelerates quickly even at highway speeds. There is a huge trunk and plenty of rear space for normal sized people. I cannot stress enough how pleasing this car is. Go to a dealership and take one out overnight, and you will understand what I am talking about.
