Overview & Reviews
Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.
The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.
As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.
Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.
Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

Good, with some faults - 2004 Infiniti G35
By CarGuy - October 17 - 9:56 pmThe 2004 Infiniti G35X with AWD offers tight steering and a relatively smooth ride, a combo that is often hard to come by. The pickup is also somewhat impressive. The seats are comfortable and supportive, though not quite large enough in the front. The trunk space is not adequate and the BOSE CD stereo is not what one should expect. Also, the AC and Seat warmers are not up to par

disappointed - 2003 Infiniti G35
By ssplain - October 16 - 10:00 amWhile the car is eye catching changing brakes every 10,000 miles means to me that Infiniti made a big material mistake. When it snows and you open the door, snow falls from the window onto the seat-not very comfortable.Tires wear out prematurely. Dust from the brake rotors fill the rims immediately after the car is washed. Infiniti should continue to replace the brakes for free-the owner should not be penalized for the material problem Rattles are significantly annoying. Dealership was not particularly accomodating

Great Bang for the Buck - 2004 Infiniti G35
By Ron Don - October 16 - 10:00 amThis car looks great and performs even better. I notice the performance has vastly improved as I have approached the 10,000 mile mark.

new owner - 2004 Infiniti G35
By n kane - October 16 - 10:00 amJust got it two weeks ago. Ride a little busier on lousy roads than I would have liked but getting better. Mirrors are small - I knew that before purchase. Gas milage is what was expected. Everybody I know with a 3,400 lb maxima gets + 20-21 mpg, so I expect less. Beige (Willow) leather interior looks richer than the black. Would like to have wood trim option without package. Wow am I picky!

Better than a 350Z for your money. - 2004 Infiniti G35
By Actor Great Guy - October 16 - 10:00 amA pure pleasure to drive,in the city or on the open road.Great lines on the body,a nice rear end, since most people will see it as you past.At 280 H.P.what a hoot.I have the color Diamond Graphite, with dark charcoal leather int.A great combo.I get a lot of looooks.A previous z owner.I had a 300zx 1990 for 13 years.A great car,I hated to part with it.I look at the new 350Zs,but for the money the G35 was the obvious choice.

Best Car Ive Ever Owned... - 2004 Infiniti G35
By jhanlon475 - October 16 - 10:00 amOf course I have to be fair and admit that I bought it to replace a Honda Civic with 100,000+ miles, and that Civic had replaced a Volkswagen Fox with 130,000 miles. I have been referring to the Infiniti as my first adult car. It met my criteria for an "adult car" (it had four doors)and my wifes limitations which were few ("you can buy anything you want so long as it has four wheel drive"). There were only a few cars that were ever in the running. The Audi A4 was out because we had two friends who lived through Audi quality issues (failing ignition coils). In the end it was the BMW 330XI vs. the Infiniti G35X. The Infiniti was just a nicer car for the money.
