Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Overall Great Car - 2000 Infiniti I30

I recently got this car from my dad with 168,000 miles on it, and those miles were put on aggressively; my dad has a lead foot. He traded it for an M37. There are some minor issues: oxidized headlight lenses, slightly rough transmission, a few burned out bulbs. A few months ago the radiator fell out of its rusted housing, but not the car. Besides that, there have been no major issues. The interior is still in great condition, some signs of wear on the drivers seat. Some rust issues; in the top of the wheel well and underneath the car (not noticable unless youre jacking it up) but thats my dads fault for not washing off road salt. If you take care of it, it will take care of you.

  • Ready....here is the truth about the QX4 - 2002 Infiniti QX4

This SUV can go where most would only dream of. In a moutain area at 11,500 feet I out manuvered all other 4x4s because of the QX4s superior traction control and solid transmission and engine...good going Infiniti. Great acceleration leaves the tail gaters behind. Its the best buy in its class. Buy it/ drive it/ love it!

Ive had the I35 for the past 3 years. I could hear external noise (like wind) when driving at 70 mph. I also have a Camry for a comparison purpose and hence will go for a lexus next time

I bought this car about 18 months ago after owning a G35 2003 coupe. This car is more practical, comfortable, and downright faster than the last car. Infiniti really got this one right! The perfect blend of sport and luxury. I can drive the family on a road trip in comfort, do the daily commute to work, and tear up the road when I get the urge.

  • worst car i have ever bought.. - 2013 Infiniti JX
    By -

loved this when we bought it from the show room, drove great, first service they broke the right side mud flap & didnt say anything till I drove home & kept hearing a noise then I pulled over & looked underneath & saw it was barely hanging on, then after owning it for 1 year I noticed the second row seats showing some tears so I called the service department & they told me to hold off until my next appointment then they would have someone look at it then they did, & said it wasnt bad lets just keep and eye on it & now its been over 2 years & the leather seats getting worse & they still say the same thing. Im getting no where with this, but I have told all my friends not to buy from them & we will be trading this in for a different car here real soon & never getting an infinity again. Its really a shame :(
