Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

    I literally found this car by accident. Before this car I was a proud owner of a M35h which I absolutely loved but it just was sporty enough. Before the hybrid I owned a FX35 which I ran to almost 200k and it was perfect but I wanted something newer but didnt think I could find anything better than the FX. The M Hybrid was amazing. Fast, Fuel sipping, super safe and super tech but it was more a luxury cruiser than the sports sedan I wanted. I searched the net just to set what was out there and found my clean fully loaded M37XS optioned all the way up with the aero kit. The car is absolutely perfect. Its sporty fun sounds amazing, gathers many looks and just what I expect from Infiniti. This is my 5th Infiniti and 10 Nissan product overall and all have been great to me giving many fun trouble-free miles (majority of my Nissan ran to or past 200k before I trade up with the exception of my M35h which was shy of 100k). I hope this will be just as reliable as my previous Nissan/Infinitis.

    I havent experienced the brake or abnormal tire wear problems that many others have, although I concur that the OEM tires -- which I replaced with pricey but far superior Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s -- left a lot to be desired. I usually average 21.8 mpg in mostly highway driving. Weve all felt the pain of higher gas prices recently, and for the past couple weeks Ive been driving with a very light foot (very atypical for me) to see how much the mileage would improve. I was absolutely astonished to get an honest 28 mpg on a recent 110 mile highway trip where I limited my max speed to 60 mph. I cruised at around 70 on the return trip and the overall mileage dropped to 27.2. Not too shabby!

    Just hit the 60k mark and loving it. I bought the car 6 months ago with 52k. As this is my first car, I didnt think I would be able to afford this nice of a car. The only problems I have had with the car are: the power antenna, and the stock rims being bent. 2 months after the purchase of the car, I blew a tire on the highway because of the rims. Replaced the rims and tires with more sporty ones and everything was good. About a week ago, my ABS light came on and my rear breaks locked up. I took it to the mechanic and had to replace the calipers, and break pads. The exhaust needs to be replaced, but I am holding off until after winter. The only thing the car needs is a bracket for the muffler

    I wont be driving this car If I relied solely on the reviews. One month and 1500 miles into the ownership, there is not one thing bad I can say about this car. MPG never gotten below 22 for me(13,15 at best ? wonder if those guys were in the right forum). Accelaration is fine and very refined, smooth. Went on a buddies trip second day I got the car; 4 golf bags with luggages, 2.5 hours one way overnight trip, no problem. I did not even get to take the wheel but for about 15 minutes ! Love it.

  • Great Car!! - 2015 Infiniti Q50

    Definitely is totally different to drive a Hybrid car, you will feel in the pedal, but when you want power, you have 360hp right in there, it is super fast car, very economical, you get 32 miles per gallon easy, it is a luxury nice experience, just got it a week ago, I will recommend, specially with all the incentives and some free tolls for having a hybrid car, nothing to lose, worth to try

    I have had many cars previously, including Toyota, Lexus, Mercedes- Benz, but my Infiniti G35 is by far my favorite out of the bunch! It has outstanding power and it rides great! Handles the road very well at 110 mph!!

    If you dont need the ego enforcing MB or Lexus emblem, but want a luxury SUV thatll last, this is it. Lexus: camry platform minivan; Acura: minivan, nice if you like the looks; Mercedes: check Consumer Reports or newsgroups, piece of crap; BMW: *cough* pricey!!; Jeep etc.: garbage, see Consumer Reports, newsgroups;

  • NOTHING SHORT OF SPECTACULAR - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

    I have bought far too many cars over the past five years, 11 to be exact. Number twelve the G35 is by far the best riding sports sedan in its class. Anyone who buys a 3 series BMW or Lexus IS300 has obviously not taken a test drive in the new G.
