Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Finally....Im Having Fun Driving - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

This car Rocks!!! Ive driven BMWs and Mercedes, and I now get to enjoy driving my car. Lots of power and extremely quick - Very impressive for a car that price. Its very comfortable for a sport coupe and its lines are not unlike those of very expensive Italian sports cars. I opted not to go with the rear spoiler as I felt it takes away from the cars natural look and even though its automatic the gears dont miss a beat on shifting. Overall, I cant say enough about this car, and I cant stop staring at it just like a lot of other people out there.

  • G35 coupe: fun and comfort - 2004 Infiniti G35

The G35 coupe has the most comfortabble seats of any auto I have had. There is enough room in the back. The trunk is small. Driving is great fun, it handles well and is what the French call "nervous" meaning it loves to move very quickly. It handles beautfully.

  • Great Car, Great Experience - 2002 Infiniti QX4

Great Navigation system with voice and visual guidance. Advanced traction control handles well on snow and ice.

  • My M45 - 2006 Infiniti M45
    By -

This M45 replaced a 2002 BMW7series. It was $30K less with most of the features and higher quaility. The V8 is as responsive and the trunk will handle 4 golf bags. The electronics function better than the 7 series and the gps screen is the best I have used. The only down side is this car is not a car for the winter season in Michigan (go for the M35 all wheel drive) We spend our winters in Fla. so its ideal. To sum up , this car is like driving a sports car with room for a foursome.

Love the SUV. If you are looking for an SUV in the $30,000-$40,000 range then this is it.

  • Best price/performance in its class. - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Ive had my G35 for about 2 months now Out of all the cars Ive ever owned, the G has delivered the best bang for the buck by far. Performance-wise, the closest thing to it is a BMW 330. I have driven both, and in my opinion, the BMW has the edge entering a curve and through the apex...but I would give the Infiniti the edge coming out of the turn (combo of great torque, balance, and a wonderful suspension). The manu-matic transmission has a little bit of confusing lag in it. Im sure the six-speed will enhance performance. Overall, a huge home run for Nissan/Infiniti. Highly recommended.

  • Would recommend this car - 2007 Infiniti G35

Had this car about 1 year now and I love this car! I compared with BMW, Lexus, and VW and dont regret my choice. Fun to drive, smooth ride, well built, reliable, comfortable, solid drive in various road & weather conditions. Beautiful car inside & out. Opt for the wood trim interior. Gas mileage not great but I knew this before I bought. Previously drove an SUV/4WD and the G35x drives comparable in the snow (as long as not deep snow because G35x is low to the ground). Bose speakers great with radio but sound quality decreases when listening to XM. Changed battery of key fob once but I was told this is because I carried it directly next to cell phones. Overall, this car does not disappoint.

  • A super big car! - 2002 Infiniti Q45
    By -

It is the most enjoyable big car I have owned, particularly on the open highway. Engine is excellent with great pickup at almost all speeds. Braking very good but perhaps not great. Repairs have been minimal. Tires are very expensive - >$250 each. Interior comfort excellent, both front and back. Navigation system works well but is a bit of a pain to program. I would buy another one, but not at new prices.
