Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Love needs more power - 2000 Infiniti G20

I love this car! It is fun to drive, handles beautifully, but the power is a little lacking.

  • Great car - 1998 Infiniti I30

Ive had my I30 for about 1 1/2 years and have driven it pretty hard. I havent had any problems with it other than the drivers side airbag seems to have a faulty connection in it so the airbag light blinks. Everything else works great. For a car with 113k miles, it has been well worth the money.

  • When is a G45 coming out? - 2004 Infiniti G35

Great combination of performance and comfort. A little hard to see behind you through the mirrors and C-pillars. Squeeky brakes at times, especially when cold. A little too sensitive sometimes too. The best vehicle out there under $40k, but this car isnt for everyone. Some people may not enjoy the exhaust note or dislike the lack of aftermarket modifications available. This car is almost perfect straight out of the dealer, no mods required.

  • Really better built in Japan? Bet $33000 - 2004 Infiniti G35

I spent 7 months car-hunting... The Honda S2000 was my first choice, being 6 3" proved the Infiniti a wiser choice! This car is, oh so fun to drive. Goes from Zero to 100 in seconds. I got a speeding ticket the third day I had it! It handles perfectly, has too-good of brakes and it is a real head-turner! However, after just over three months, Im noticing a slight rattle in the drivers window, the rear drivers-side window ate the wiper and makes a horrible screeching noise and the drivers seat is quickly becoming a rocking chair. Time to go in for some tea and crumpets while they sort it all out.

  • Getting ready to trade... - 2004 Infiniti G35

Great Owner Group drives Nissan hard on warranty issues: A/C Compressor Brake pads AND Rotors Bose Vibrations/rattles Only got 30k miles on OEM tires and car is REALLY squirrley in small amounts of ice/snow. Transmission is a little clunky and gets to 5th gear way too soon. Probably why gas mileage is on the low side. Drives great on trips and optimal road conditions. Bottom line, really makes the Maxima look attractive for a lot of reasons.

  • Not a fancy Maxima - 2002 Infiniti I35
    By -

Just picked up my I35 and love it! I also looked at Lexus ES300, BMW 5 series and Volvo S80--the I35 is definitely the best value, and 5-10K less than the others I tried. I had several Maximas before this, and have always enjoyed them, but needed a change. Ive heard the term "its a fancy Maxima", but it is not. The I35 is more in the luxury class, while Maxima is sporty--both extremely reliable!

  • 8 Person Luxury Vehicle - 2010 Infiniti QX56

The seating in this SUV is awesome. We like the 3nd row middle seat that folds down to let the kids in the back. With 4 kids and grandma it is extremely comfortable. We looked at the Mercedes GL, Audi, and Sequoia and found this truck a much better deal and a much nicer ride and comfort. The electronics are great.

  • Great Car Fun to Drive - 2005 Infiniti G35

I had test drove about 10 diffrent cars, by far the g35 was the best in it class for the money. My whole buying experience with the dealership was great.

  • Infinti Warranty - 2000 Infiniti I30
    By -

I have had my 2000 Infiniti I30t for 7 months now; it had 46,000 miles when I bought it. however when I took it to the Infiniti dealer for repeated check engine light they made me buy an $18 gas cap to eliminate the light problem rather than they fix it, Infiniti’s so called bumper to bumper warranty was like fender to fender, oh by the way their life time warranty on the paint is a big lie also, front end clicking noise was a concern as well, Infinite consumer affairs was not a big help either, and Infiniti will try so hard not to honor their bumper to bumper warranty.

  • Breath of Fresh Air - 2004 Infiniti G35

Stylish Elegant/Classy Fast Sound of Motor (roars...) Gas Saver compared to my previous 2001 VW Passat. Price vs. full package. Reasonable.
