Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

our 3rd infiniti, traded in qx4 which we had for 8 years. great design where 2nd row has bench seats for access to 3rd row. even w 3rd row up enough room for a stroller. handles n drives nicely average about 14 mpg in mixed driving. our friends just got a 2007 after seeing ours. we test drove lots of suvs before finding this. my wife loves it so far. owned for 9 months.

  • Best Priced High Performance/Luxory Car - 2002 Infiniti I35

I just love this car. From NYC Ive driven it to Cleveland (RR Hall of Fame) and Myrtle Beach. Long drives with nothing but enjoyment because of the I35. You can not get a better high performance/luxury car for the money. Lexus ES300 is overpriced and underpowered. Acura TL Type S just doesnt have the same luxurious interior look or feel.

I had to give up my 300zx Convertible to get this car, but it was well worth it. The handling, performance and ride of this car is amazing. It is the best car I have ever driven and Ive driven them all.

  • Awesome car! - 2005 Infiniti G35

I bought this car last year on 6/23/07. It needed a new tranny and a 3rd clutch @ 50K because of the previous owner not knowing how to drive it. I love everything about this car as far as performance, but the amber yellow lighting inside reminds of a TC. I test drove a BMW 330CI before my G purchase & it was a joke. I get about 18-20mpg city & 24-28 highway, which is pretty good considering I have 20" wheels, a heavy foot & 3" exhaust. the interior rattles a lot & no luck w/ the dealer. I have 61K fun miles on this car & plan to drive it to the ground then rebuilt the motoer w/ a turbo.

This is our second Infiniti G model; we had a 2009 sedan as well. This car has it all, great looks, great performance, the best warranty around. Acceleration and cornering cant be matched. We have never had to take in either of our Infinitis for anything other than normal service.

  • As good as my Lexus - 1998 Infiniti Q45

  • So far so good!! - 2008 Infiniti G35

Bought in Feb 2008, tail end of winter, in Rochester NY. Did awesome in the snow!! Plenty of kick, quiet, smooth. Getting about 20 mpg mostly in town driving. Not great, but considering a 306hp engine and a driver with a heavy foot.

  • Cant get the smile off of my face - 2003 Infiniti G35

I came out of an Acura TL lease and looked at several in this class. Never owned a rear wheel drive but when the dealer took me for a ride and cut a turn at 50mph, I quickly became a fan of the rear wheel stability and the G35 with Sport suspension. The G35 may be the most fun car I have ever driven if you like power, sharp turning, and well, POWER.
