Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Bye Bye BMW - 2003 Infiniti G35

I was driving a 2001 330i and was looking for something fresh, man was this the ticket. Outrageous low end torque, handles much better in the corners than the 2002 BMW, also test drove the Audi A4, Lexus IS300, Acura TL-S. This car moves out and turns more heads than the old bimmer. Anyone considering an entry level sports sedan should drive this car 1st, everything else wont measure up. Doubters-refer to Road and Tracks July 2002 issue-2nd place didnt make the front cover!!!

  • Six Months, Even More Pleased! - 2003 Infiniti G35

After six increasingly happy months of ownership, and after reviewing comments (especially those of an obvious BMW salesman who is losing his livelihood because of this awesome car) I felt the need to add my two cents. I LOVE this car. The more I drive it, the longer I have it, the more I love it! I have yet to find the need to return to the dealer for more than oil changes and one tire rotation. I read one comment about the radio having too much Bass, true, but easily adjusted. Comments about this car not being as good as a 330i? Well, as stated, that salesman needs to contact his local Infiniti dealer--maybe they are hiring.

  • Super roomy - 2017 Infiniti Q50

I saw a review from a person that said if youre over 60 that this vehicle is not comfortable. I am 67 and almost 300lbs..I find it more spacious than most SUVs I have been in. Super comfortable in my opinion

  • Liking it more and more - 2013 Infiniti JX

Love the way it drives, the room and interior. Looks better than the pictures too. Im not sure why the reviewers say its slow and dosent handle great. While its not a dragster off the line it has the plenty of power for passing on the highway and getting around town...plus excellent mileage. I think it handles and drives excellent. Its silent and all the features work great. My wife cant be happier. Its her daily driver. The trany is fine too. We drove the XC90,XC60, MDX, Lexus 350, Audi Q5 and Q7 and the BMW X5. We took delivery in early May and have put 2500 hundred miles on it due to a long trip. We have the Premium, Tech and Theater packages and the car is White/Tan int.

  • Sporty & Classy - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

After a great experience w/my Mitsbubishi 3000GT-VR4 I was looking for a sporty performance car that was also luxury-minded and classy. I found it in the G35. (I loved the 350Z but it has NO trunk space - the G35 has the same engine but is much more practical.) While not as robust as my VR4, the G35 has lots of oomph, and amazingly handles just as well as the AWD VR4. I get looks and compliments everywhere I go. The G35 is a lot of car for the money, a tremendous value. If you want a fun- to-drive performance car well- appointed with luxury items and a classy demeanor, this is your only choice, unless you want to spend another ten grand.

  • bad brakes? - 2004 Infiniti G35

  • Still impressed - 1998 Infiniti Q45

Now Im up to about 175,000 miles. Check engine light is on which is emissions. Air bag light came on, which means one of the 6 airbags is malfunctioning. Other than this, my car has always been able to run without any problems. Never broke down on side of the road. Last week the dash board lit up like a Xmas tree. I sat on the car for 3 months afraid of the cost to take it it. Well I drove it to the shop and it was just the alt belt that snapped. 100 bucks. Outside of brakes rotors battery and oil change. This is the only repair that I had to make in the 5 +years of ownership. Even then I was still able to drive the car.

  • 2007 Infiniti G35 - 2007 Infiniti G35

In 2004, I leased a G35. I had 11 nagging reasons NOT to like this car, in spite of Motor Trend and everyone else. These were poor sound, outside mirrors, gas mileage, seats, etc. In 2007, for financial reasons, I leased a new one. There is NO comparison. The 2007 G35 is greatly improved over the previous ones and now is the car it was billed to be in 2003 and 2004.
