Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Great Luxury Buy - 2000 Infiniti QX4

This vehicle is wonderful. It has everything, and is affordable. Could use a little more power, but not that bad. Better than what I expected. The comfort is great, and the Bose stereo is incredible. I highly recommned this vehicle.

  • LOVE MY CAR - 2004 Infiniti Q45

THIS IS THE BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED,AND I HAD CADILLACS AND A BONNEVILLE SSE BEFORE THIS ONE

  • hot car - 2004 Infiniti M45

My only complaint is the transmission. It is rough and at certain rates of acceleration appears to not have enough torque for that gear, then downshifts.

  • NOT ALL THAT - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

ItÂ’s a fun, powerful car that handles well. But there are many little things that add up, making it just an OK car overall. No memory in the seats, poor interior fit and finish, very soft paint (every tiny pebble chips paint). After a year there are more interior rattles than the local dealership can address.

  • Initial Disappointment - 2014 Infiniti QX50
    By -

I have had my QX50 for a little over a week now. I had looked at so many cars that I more than likely rushed to judgement in buying this vehicle. My problem is, it was a cold day when I test drove the car and did not notice some things that I have grown to take for granite on a $40,000 plus car. As an example: 1 touch windows up/down, Ventilated seats, no seat lumbar adjustment, 1 touch moon/sun roof, and I just found out that Nissan doesnt even make a cargo net for it. Nor does this model have blind spot indicators or adaptive cruise control which our $25k Altima had.

  • Best SUV we have owned - 2013 Infiniti FX
    By -

We wanted a mid-sized Luxury SUV that was sporty. Most SUVs are too cushy & underpowered. The Porsche, BMW are cool but too costly for us. That really only left the FX, Cadillac, Acura. The Acura & Cadillac were very good. But the Infiniti had the most power & best electronics. It the difference for my wife. With cameras on 4 sides, not just 3 sides like the BMW, she can park the FX better than her Mini. Its a joy to drive. Great feel & firm handling. Its a rear wheel based AWD, sports car.

  • Wow - 2004 Infiniti G35

Bought as a grey import in Dubai, had to have it after seeing it at the used car dealership (20 miles on the clock). Looks gorgeous, a hoot to drive - accidentally got the performance package, which I guess spices it up even more. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a stylish coupe in this price range - its certainly far classier than a Beemer.

  • Infiniti 2001 - Great SUV - 2002 Infiniti QX4
    By -

I love my QX4. The service department is great. The sales department was great. No BS games. The SUV is extremely spunky. The slight negatives I have are that the AC is able to cool the entire vehicle very well until the outside temp gets to the low 90s, and after 20,000 miles, there is some vibration when breaking from high speeds which I was told can be taken car of when I get my brakes done. The anti-lock brakes have probably saved me from a couple of accidents. P.S. Definitely get the 4 wheel drive if you are going to be in the snow at all.

  • Stay clear of this one - 2002 Infiniti QX4
    By -

I bought this car 5 months ago and I have had numerous problems with it. It has been to the dealership at least 10 times. Issues include failed power windows (passenger and driver side), rattling vents (one actually pooped out), squeaking sound from rear hatch and vibrating rear view mirror. The extra $$$$ you pay for the supposedly great Infiniti dealership and headquarters service is a sham. I have told all that would listen to stay clear from this brand until they get their act together. If you want service get a Lexus. If you want performance get a BMW. If you need the room get the Acura. Stay clear of the QX4.

  • For Shorter People Only - 2002 Infiniti QX4
    By -

If you are over 6 foot tall like my husband is, then pass on this vehicle...you will not fit. I did not know this until after the papers were signed and took it home and he wanted to test drive it. I am really bummed about it. Other than that, I really love it.
