Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • 5AT G35 Coupe - 2005 Infiniti G35

Even with the 5AT transmission, the coupe is a very fast and fun car to drive. The manumatic mode helps to overcome any shortcomings of having a manual, particularly in heavy traffic. The sport tuned suspension is a well recommended option, the 19" wheels look great and the ride is smoother with this car than on previous models with 17" wheels. Only downside to the car so far is the seats have side bolsters that tend to jab most people in the shoulder or back, but otherwise an extremely comfortable, well built and luxurious sports coupe that you can get for $40k or less.

Wow! What a fun car to drive. I test drove one, and I spent three months trying to talk myself out of buying it. I hated myself for wanting to buy it because I did not need a new car. I finally gave in, and I have not looked back. It makes me smile everyday.

  • gorgeous car, awesome power - 2006 Infiniti M45

I test drove the Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, Audi, Cadillac, and finally the Infinity M45. Originally I wasnt planning on going to Infinity because I wasnt impressed with them from the outside. When the salesman brought out the new 06 M45 V8 Sport I was in love. Its sleek, stylish, and the interior leaves nothing to be desired. Its fun to drive, and as I live in the mountains, it handles curves and hills like a dream. The bose surround sound cant be touched by any of the other cars out there, and the bourbon and black leather interior is turning heads everywhere I go. Everyone wants to know what kind of car it is.

  • 3rd in 3 years....because I like them - 2003 Infiniti QX4

Leased a 2000 because of lease deal and my need. Really liked it. Leased an additional one in 2001. This vehicle was vasly improved. Bigger engine, more power gizmos, Infinity clock, express auto up and down windows, lots of nice features. Now that the 2000 lease is up just bought another on and it is a wonderful car. % stars. Never had three of the same thing in a row ever before

  • nice car but........ - 2003 Infiniti I35

I like everything about the car. The changes I would make are pretty minor. I would match the headlights color to the fog lights. I would also add a little more zip to its performance when starting. The car seems a little slugish when starting out. I would probably check out the G35 coupe but, I like the I35 ride better.

  • Best sporty car Ive owned - 2003 Infiniti G35

Ive had the car about 6 weeks and just passed all 1s (1,111) on the odometer. Have gotten more favorable comments about this car than any Ive ever owned. Great fun to drive, and the power is really a kick in the pants. Ive always wanted sportiness with a hint of practicality, and I think the G35c has it.

  • A great car - 2008 Infiniti G35

I have been eyeing the G series ever since the first one came out. My 1998 Accord finally gave me fits, so it was a chance to hop into a G35. I had a great deal on the 2008 vs. a 2009 so I decided to pull the trigger. I love the interior, and the color scheme. The Premium package is a must. I like the G35S but at $2200 more, I decided to go without. I love the way it looks, and the manu-shifting is great. Not as instantaneous as a 6MT, but I rarely race, if ever. All in all, would definitely do it again. Didnt care much for the navigation (already have an awesome $200 Garmin) and the CF slot. With an iPod and an MP3 CD player, who needs CF?

  • Infiniti Without A Doubt - 2001 Infiniti I30

Picked this I30 up at dealership w/65000 miles for a low price. O2 sensors replaced by dealership @ 60000 miles. Car ran great, looked great, rode great. Have put additional 8000 miles on since purchase. This is, absolutely without a doubt, a super road car. Its comfortable, smooth, classic looking and Im averaging 27- 28 mpg running at 70 MPH. Have switched tires to 225 x 65 x 16 (Regatta 2s) at 35 PSI and ride is super smooth (tire diameter goes from 25" to 27") and they really fill up the wheelwells. I expect to keep this one close to 200000 miles or more (have 92 Accord with 153000 just running great). This is NOT like any Maxima Ive driven. Its far better!

  • My 4th Nissan product - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

My first car out of college was a Datsun 310, then a 240sx,then a Maxima and now the G35x. I never had any problems with the others and dont expect any from this one. I have had American cars for company cars and I have yet to find one I would buy. I traded in a Solara Covt for the G35x and I can really tell a difference. The Toyota is a great cruiser but has no personality. I love the performance, ride, and looks of my new Infiniti and look for reasons to drive it.

  • 2008 G35x is the car to beat - 2008 Infiniti G35

Of all the many cars I owned, this is the most fun and best thought-through car. Handling, power, road feel, road-noise level are all first class. The navigation and the rest of the electronics are wonderfully integrated and easy to learn and use. The screen is very bright and is useable even in sunny days. The 3 ways to control most functions (voice, knobs and touch- screen) make it fun abd easy to use under all conditions. The trunk access is too narrow, with a high barrier so that placing groceries and baggage is a hassle. Driver seat can not be pushed back enough for my frame (511").
