Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

Superb automobile. Long known for its superior reliability,it is also an outstanding handler. High limits, the brakes react quickly, and the steering is very precise. Its not as short on power as you hear, but it could use a few more ponies. The safety features are extensive, and the Bose stereo is superb. A great car at around $24k loaded, but it is outstanding at $19k!

This sports coupe is insane! Handles wonderfully, turns on a dime, corners remarkable, stops abruptly, accelerates as fast as anyone would ever "need" and gets stares from onlookers everywhere.

This car is a BMW & Audi killer! Its about the same size but much less expensive. It has power to spare! Pulls hard from zero to 100. It doesnt have the precise handling of German cars but its still excellent. The AWD feature works superb. Had a snow and ice storm last week and the car was fantastic! Even better than my 4Runner. Interior is good but should be upgraded. Controls are nicely mounted and easy to use. Love the radio and CD control on the steering wheel. Had an A4 AWD and the G35x is a lot more car for the money. You will never know youre driving an AWD car unless the weather is bad. Will it hold up? Ill let you know in about 25,000 miles.

I chose this car when I had to replace my Acura Integra with a larger "Mommy" car. I initially went for one of the new Acuras, but decided on this car after comparing prices and test driving them all more than 5 times each. This car is sooo comfortable, especially on long rides. I havent had any major problems, but I am disappointed that the drivers seat motor went out. One thing, the turning radius is horrible!!

Apart from good performance and its great looks, this vehicle has excellent brakes. I recenlty witnessed a major crash, all five cars in front of me from three lanes were flying everywhere, I could have very well been involved in that mess, but the brakes stopped the car so quick. Everyone was going at least 65 m/h. My previous car would have never made it. This car is worth it.

  • Great Value for the Money - 2003 Infiniti G35

After years of driving BMWs and Audis, the G35 is a refreshing change of pace. The product is priced right and the dealer actually seems to understand the term "customer service". I traded in a 330ci (needed a back seat) for the G35, and what the Infiniti lacks (slightly!) in road handling prowess, it makes up with the monster engine and the nearly $10k price difference.

  • Be careful... - 2002 Infiniti I35

I bought the 2002 I-35 in 2012 with 45k for $9k. It was pristine. In 2 years I put another 45k (I know, a lot). It fell apart. I traded it in for $2k and lost my shirt (almost $6k!). Problems were engine mounts, emissions, struts, power steering pump, etc. Its interesting because they are the only luxury cars under 80k going for <$5k and they look awesome, but I think theres a reason for the cheap price. Its a shame because the interior/exterior is nice, but its basically a Maxima underneath and Nissan, well its not a Toyo/Honda..
