Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • 2 many shortcomings? - 2009 Infiniti G37

Got this G37 as a less expensive but highly touted alternative to BMW. Driven it 300 miles. Very strong engine & handling and road feel the equal of any BMW 3 or 5. Nav system controls are way too busy & confusing. The show stopper for me is the drivers seat. Good adjustable lumbar support, but very hard bottom to the point of being painful after 30 mins. Driver seat adjustments are also difficult to access & didnt help my 62" frame even though the leg room is very adequate. Good news is that Inifiniti is customer focused & letting me swap the G for the larger M with better seating without penalty. Thanks Infiniti.

  • This car runs better than my Lexus SC - 2006 Infiniti G35

I just traded in my Lexus SC 430 2005 for the car for room. Not only does this car way less but the drive is more sturdy- i can make fast turns without any turbulence or feel of loss of control of the vehicle. This was definitely the best buy for the money and of course "durability". I was upside down on my Lexus but Inifniti of Davie did right by me as a consumer that I had my neighbor and two family members buy their vehicles there. Test drive the m45- the interior is gorgeous on that car!

  • I love this car! - 2003 Infiniti G35

This car is great. It is very stylish and the exhaust sounds amazing. I turn heads all the time. Other people think the car costs a lot more than what I really paid for it...our secret! lol! It has excellent performance...280 HP and 270 lb/ft Torque.

Car is a joy to drive. Acceleration and handling are superb. Styling is eye-catching. I did not buy the wing. It looks like an ironing board left on the trunk Trunk is small, but not tiny. Plan to buy snow tires in the northern states. High performance and rear wheel drive make for a slippery car with wide tires. I smile every morning when I see the car.

Clutch failed at 3,500 miles. Many pood design features. Will never buy a car again without a knob for the radio. Spaceship center console is confusing and counter intutive. Several controls (e.g. trunk switch are inconvienent. Emergency Brake takes extreme force to engage. Looks great. Will not go in the snow with summer tires. Wouldnt buy again.

  • Overall Review in my Opinion - 2003 Infiniti G35

Ordered this car today (aka Japans Nissan Skyline 350GT). Quite impressed with the test drive for its performance. Those of you have hard time deciding this car and the 3-Series should considered this. Same class, cheaper with more powerful engine and you can fully equiped this car for a 4000-6000 less compairing to the 3 Series.

  • Performance AND Luxury! WOW - 2008 Infiniti G35
    By -

First I drove the Lexus IS 250, Saab 9-3 Aero, Acura TL and S-Type, Honda Accord (v6), and Audi A4 (v6). ONE test drive in the G35x and it was a done deal! The dealer let me keep one over a weekend and I didnt want to give it back! Purchased the S option with paddle shifters. Talk about fun!! This weekend drove 70 miles to and from my fathers house for the holiday: and if my wife had told me she left something (anything) back at my fathers house I would have repeated the trip instantly just for fun! BMWho?

  • Easy on the eye and the soul - 2005 Infiniti G35

Unbelievable. The whole experience of the G35 Coupe 6MT is unbelievable. From the purchase, to the first drive. I have found that G35 family has luxury in mind as blends it perfectly with preformance. I am a mid twenties new family guy and this car still has a purpose. It can seat four in comfort so you can use the pratical angle on the wifey. Shifts on the 05 are smoother than that of the 03-04 and power delivery in each gear promotes spirited driving. This car has the beauty to turn heads everywhere and since is it relatively a unique brand, people will come up to you asking what it is and dropping compliments left and right. Only thing flawed is the dipstick. Recommended for anyone!

  • Bang for the buck - 2008 Infiniti G37
    By -

This car absolutely has it all, power, handling, best technology, including music hard drive that is ahead of all the rest. How can you compare its competitors to a car that has more for half the money. Its a rocket with all the gadgets. Big winner.
