Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Nice car - 2002 Infiniti I35
    By -

I bought my I35 last year and I have put 25k on it so far. Other than the regular maintenance only other thing I did for it is the rad replacement. Overall Ive had a good experience with it, other than the known problems such as turning radius and fuel efficiency, Infiniti has done a good job. Very spacious room front and back. Too much similarity in interior parts with Maxima and Altima, is this supposed to be a luxury sedan. Sound system really stinks!

  • Disappointed - 2003 Infiniti I35
    By -

I purchased this vehicle just about 5 years ago because I had heard so many great things about Infiniti. The first 3 years were good but then my oil was always running low and they could never diagnose it. Now I only have 87000 miles and the engine has failed. That is certainly not what I expected from an auto dealer with their perceived quality. Their customer satisfaction department was anything but satisfying and I will now be buying a BMW!

  • QX4 should be brought back - 2001 Infiniti QX4
    By -

When I purchased the 2001 QX4, there were not many car based SUVs - QX4 is a truck based rear wheel drive vehicle. 4WD was an option. The differential & drive shaft needed for rear wheel drive adds weight - for that reason gas consumption is a bit higher compared to contemporary non-SUVs. 2001+ models have the killer look - personally, I prefer it over the X5s and of course RX300 and M-Class. The front bezel and the wide three-spoke aluminum wheels (for 4WD trim) are both unique. The 4WD trim came with adequate and stylist standard features - Xenon HID head lamp, sun/moon roof, 6CD Bose, electro-fluorescent dash, everything-power, leather, simulated wood-trim ...

  • So far so good - 2003 Infiniti M45
    By -

I just bought my M45 almost a week ago and so far I am very pleased with my ride. I just love the power this car possesses underneath its hood. I am also very careful on how I have my foot to the pedal, since this V-8 monster will definitely gulp down its gas tank. Overall, I am very happy with the build, interior and exterior wise. Also, with lots of hp, this is seriously one very fast car. The ride is pretty smooth too.

  • Smooth, but oil leak problems - 2000 Infiniti Q45

Great riding car, super comfort, large boat-like plush ride. Awesome as family car or cross country cruiser, but had problems with oil leak. Thank goodness I purchased under warranty.

  • Almost a year and Great! - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Bought in June of 2002 and have 19,500 miles. Still a rocket on the road. Handles incredibly and accelerates to beat most other autos.

  • Well Balanced - Fast, Dependable & Sexy - 2007 Infiniti G35
    By -

The G35 does everything well. And its design is subtle - not overstated like many others in its category. Test drive one and youll agree. Well made. Fun to drive. Good looks.
