Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

Just got the car. Great price for what you get. Nice smooth engine, although it has some torque steer it is manageable. One drawback, it uses Premium fuel and the mileage is decent for the power it produces. Handling is a lot tighter then I expected. I was expecting a boaty ride, but it is quite tight.

This is one killer ride! I had to wait 5 months for delivery (6MT with NAVI is hard to come by), but believe me, it was well worth the wait. This car is a great blend of a number of different things, and for the price, it simply cannot be matched. Youll hear some reviews squawk about the interior, but please understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I happen to love the interior. I think its sporty & edgy with a functional feel. My advice is this: simply test drive all other vehicals in this class, and leave the G for last. Always save the best for last :)

its fast, sleek, and lots of fun to drive. gas milage not bad for a high performer. gives me great pleasure to step on the gas when I have some teenage tailgater on my rear bumper and leave him/her in the dust. the bose sound system is great as well-when I first cranked it up, I thought there was an air leak in the front door til I realized it was the speaker by my calf vibrating my pants leg!

1500 miles now. Absolutely no problems with my G35X. It is an absolute sports machine - I look forward to driving it every day. The main reason I purchased this car is for the AWD feature, but that being said, no amount of hi-tech (including AWD, ABS, VDC, traction control, etc.) will overcome the intelligence of the driver in inclement weather. Nothing prevents a car slipping on ice (except for maybe chains or spiked tires). I dont drive like SUV drivers - just because I have AWD...

I shopped Acura, Lexus,Mercedes, and Infiniti. The Lexus ES300 has to few horses and to high a price for a dressed up Camry. The Mercedes C is too small. The Acura TL is a worthy competitor. But, in the final analysis, I chose the I35 for the overall package of comfort, quality, price, and performance. I havent been disappointed. I now have 10,000 millws on the odometer, and feel I made a good decision

  • I dont miss the Audi. - 2007 Infiniti G35

My 2006 Audi A4 3.2l was recently totaled. The new G35 was worth the wait. Interior and exterior quality of this car are superb and a significant improvement from the 2006 model. I was concerned that this vehicle would be a cheap "substitute" for the BMW or not live up to my Audi. NOT! In my opinion THIS car has now set the new standard, especially considering the outstanding features and cheaper price. This car is now unmatched: Fun to drive, great power, reliability, luxurious interior, tech options, AND less expensive... Negatives? While I personally would rank overall performance of the G35 best in the class, I would still rank steering precision 2nd to BMW. Fuel economy is so-so.

  • I want out! - 2005 Infiniti G35

I bought this car mostly based on its looks. Then I test drove it and fell in love with it. Since then I had the brake light switch replaced because of a squeaky noise. Then the clutch pedal assembly had to be replaced, because it was binding. Now the clutch is slipping at 14k, the dealer blames me although I treat the car like a baby. Very disappointed that a $36k needs a new clutch at 14k miles. So the fact that the tires only last about 18k miles, Im looking at replacing tires and clutch in less than two years. By the way the mirror rattles, the console rattles, there is rattle in the window and a few more.

Was in the market for a 05 Audi S4 but couldnt find one in my budget. Drove past an Infiniti dealership and I was in love. This car has all the toys! Keyless entry, push button start, back up camera, navi, iPod enable, Im sure more that I havent discovered yet. This car is awesome. I was in the market for a v8 but this car does just fine and Im saving gas!

This car is wonderful. Its my first luxury SUV and worth every penny spent.

  • Never again. - 2006 Infiniti G35

Bought my 2006 laser red coupe used in Summer of 2009. Was my dream car, key word - WAS - until after a few months in. It was a one owner with a clean carfax. Had 31K on it when I bought it. I now have 52K on it and have already had major issues with the car. Tire pressure light keeps tripping and flashing, leather is tearing and showing wear, bose system went out (a $600.00 repair) and dont even get me started on the paint finish. The car only has 51K miles and it looks as if its been sand blasted or towed behind a gravel truck. Dealership is extremely arrogant, lazy and it takes almost up to two weeks just to get in for a simple oil change. Never again! Mercedes here i come...
