Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Almost, but not quite - 2002 Infiniti I35

Got this 1 y/o old car with only 5000 mi. Miss my 96 I-30. It had fewer bells and whistles and less power but a smoother ride and narrower turning circle. The 02 has been reliable and comfortable, but not exciting to drive. Trunk requires concentration to close. Mileage 20-22 in mixed city/hwy driving. Excellent accereration and braking. Overall handling very good. Excellent at avoidancce maneuvers. Only prob with 02 currently is a jerking at 40- 60 mph when foot is removed or placed on accelerator. Large interior, very comnfortable for my larger friends. Large trunk. Well made, quiet ride over smooth roads.

  • This is the greatest coupe ever built - 2003 Infiniti G35

The Infiniti G35 is the greatest coupe to ever be built. It will smoke the hell out of any GT in its price range. Period.

I absolutely love driving this car! The handling is superb. I love the way it takes the curves on the road.

  • Awesome car - 2004 Infiniti G35

I am not sure what I like more, the powerful engine, the superb handling, the awesome brakes, or the comfortable interior. Once I am behind the wheel, I dont want to get out. Its great looks just get greater every time I look at it. Everyone thinks I paid a lot more for it - its quite a bargain.

  • Best Sports Car for the Money - 2004 Infiniti G35

Ive had this car for 6 months now, and I still love it! This is THE BEST sports car for under $50k. Beats BMW easily and will leave you with much more $$$. 6-speed short-throw stick is silky smooth. Power and handling are BOTH awesome. The body is beautiful. And the price is great! If you want a sports car, you must test drive this one.

...but then I gave up a Honda S2000 for this, and I dont regret it. For the money, its a steal! Great performance, nice feel, great look- a nice piece of engineering.

  • My best investment - 2002 Infiniti I35

Sure, everyone talks about BMW. But if you seriously doing research about a car, you wont regret a bit by at least test drive the Infiniti. Either the G35 or I35 will erase the $6000 more BMW out of your head. I got the I35 for more space and luxury . It has everything Ive ever wanted inside, plus I got the navigation system too. The BOSE sound system KICK ass big time!!. Seat is very comfy, interior details are awesome. This car is 95% made in Japan unlike the Acura TL which made in US (really in Mexico) and still has the same turning signals control as my old 1990 honda civic. Whats up with that?? Almost got the Acura, but didnt like the exterior and the details inside.

  • So far.. awesome!!! - 2003 Infiniti G35

I recently purchased a loaded G35 (everything but the navigation sys), and I love it. Its got a great ride, a great look, and great pickup. My wallet will be hurting a little with below average gas mileage. But other than that, no complaints. Ive had people admiring my car so far every day. Thats a nice feeling.

  • The New Ultimate Sports Sedan - 2003 Infiniti G35

Have owned my G35 for 3 weeks now and all I can say is this is one heck of an sports sedan. Total satisfaction.

  • Best return for the dollar! - 2004 Infiniti G35

Excellent drivers car especially with the MT. Gas mileage was good 25 mpg with mixed driving. I knew what to expect when purchasing: the G is a performance sedan with a fair touch of luxury, but emphasis is on performance. If youre looking for granny luxury, look elsewhere, the G is meant for drivers.
