Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

Downsized from a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee which I loved but started getting old. I purchased this Infiniti about four months ago. Its a 2004 white and I bought it with 45,000 miles on it. The Bose sound is great. The car performs great with ample power. Leather is really nice along with the rear sunshade. When driving for more than a half hour back starts to hurt, maybe its because Im a tall and used to driving an SUV. Overall really nice car.

Fun to drive. I have the sport tuned suspension and it rides rough, so it tends to rattle inside. It sticks to the road, although I understand the tires dont last long and they are expensive

I traded in a Lexus coupe for this vehicle with the Sports and Navigation packages and I havent looked back. Fun to drive, the brilliant red is an eye catcher and its packed with electronic toys. Overall, this car is a blast. You cant help but punch it a little when accelerating and that does impact the fuel milage. I dont understand why the interior wood trim option is not allowed with the sports package.

This car combines luxury and sports sedan characteristics beautifully. The G35 is quick and agile, AND rides like a dream. The driver and passengers are both comfortable in this car. The dashboard is designed well - everything is easily accessible and convenient. This car is a pleasure to drive!

  • Initial reviewer has a case of sour grapes - 2014 Infiniti Q50

I purchased my Q50 just recently, I got the total safety package including drive by wire, the radar activated brakes, the camera that views the road, etc... Its the best car Ive ever had in my life! Comfort is superb for long trips, fuel economy is only 1L/100km more than my old Chevy Cobalt. The engine has a frightening amount of power to it, this car accelerates on 0.2 seconds longer from 0-100km/h than a Bentley Continental GT! Its a real powerhouse! I love the safety packages, I picked this car so my wife would have good comfort and safety and she loves the seats, the built-in heat and all around smooth ride. [non-permissible content removed]

Great car. Bought it three years ago, have had no problems at all. 32,000 total miles. Very fast and stylish. Always concerned with maintenance problems in any car. Have had none with this one and would recommend it to anyone. Gas mileage could be better for such a small car. I am over six feet tall and have found the car comfortable. Not overly roomy but not purchased for that. Cant think of any reason not to purchase this car. And I focus on performance, wear and tear and reliability.

  • Best Bang for the Buck! - 2008 Infiniti G35

I am very particular about certain things and my car is one of them. I traded in an 06 Honda Accord V6 for this 08 G35 Sedan Sport. I did a lot of research and test driving (Lexus IS 350, BMW 335i), but I was always partial to the Infiniti G35. I love the exhaust note!! This was a no brainer. The Lexus and Bimmer were $7k and $10k more respectively with the same options. I got mine fully loaded. The car has wicked acceleration! The quality of the materials inside the cabin are better than expected. The paddle shifters work great in manual shift mode. I recommend going for a test drive, but be warned... you will be hooked :-)

very fast, poor gas mileage, great overall value for money

  • Very nice family CUV! - 2013 Infiniti JX
    By -

Traded in a 11 QX56 for the JX35 AWD. It is the wifes new soccer mom mobile! Hopefull, the MPG will be better than the QX! The JX35 came with Premium pkg, Theater pkg, Deluxe Touring pkg, Tow pkg, and Roof Rails. We really like the java interior with maple interior accents; the 20" wheels look nice too. The interior is very plush and roomy. It looks and feels high end. The second row moves about 5 inches fwd/aft, which is a great feature-more leg room. Unlike most of the SUVs in this class, the third row is useful. A 6 ft. adult can sit back there comfortably. Infact, its just as comfortable as the 3rd row seat on the QX56. Getting in/out of the 3rd row is a breeze.

  • QX4 Evaluation - 2002 Infiniti QX4

Solid vehicle. Easy to ingress and egress. Excellent traction on wet pavements with AWD. Controls ergonomically and safely located particularly with steering wheel mounted controls. Great power - no concern with lack of acceleration. Safety features excellent. Exceptionally pleased with overall performance and handling.
