Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

This is my third Infinity. Two x35s and now the X70. Obviously, I love this car. Its distinctive styling and performance make it my all time favorite.

Just got the G35 last week and am very favorably impressed as I drive it around town and country. Nice design, strong performance, luxury features, agile, tight cornering, and high reliability expectations (based on Infinity/Nissan history). This rear wheel drive car is defininitely worth a look if youre in the market for an upscale sports sedan. I almost got the BMW 330i, but after driving the G35, I found it be a true sports sedan representing a much better value than the BMW 3 series. Great driving experience, soft leather, horsepower and torque, massive brakes, including value and reliability. This car is so strong .

  • Sold a Lexus i loved.. for an Infiniti i love more! - 2008 Infiniti G37

Ever since i saw a Lexus IS300 in first year of production i knew i wanted one. Eventually got a black 5 speed with spoiler.. (had my mind on NEVER letting it go)...... daily driven, loved it for 6 years longest ive had a car.. and then just happened to stop one day at lunch and test drive an absolutely gorgeous athens blue G37S... just on a whim.. guess what - i ended up buying it that same day. Im 53" and find the G very comfortable. Like another reviewer said, its a little light on response, need to anticipate acceleration or use the paddles or tap over into DS mode for more immediate shifts. For a 6 cylinder this car is FAAAAASSST!! 0-60 much faster than a Straight 6 Lexus, wow...

  • Best car Ive ever owned - 1999 Infiniti I30

Loved my Infiniti I-30 Touring Model. Super comfortable, elegant, reliable, should have never traded it in!! I am still mourning that decision. Great interior, very luxurious. Bought w/117K miles and could still be running if I didnt trade it in.

  • When is a G45 coming out? - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

Great combination of performance and comfort. A little hard to see behind you through the mirrors and C-pillars. Squeeky brakes at times, especially when cold. A little too sensitive sometimes too. The best vehicle out there under $40k, but this car isnt for everyone. Some people may not enjoy the exhaust note or dislike the lack of aftermarket modifications available. This car is almost perfect straight out of the dealer, no mods required.

  • Really better built in Japan? Bet $33000 - 2004 Infiniti G35

I spent 7 months car-hunting... The Honda S2000 was my first choice, being 6 3" proved the Infiniti a wiser choice! This car is, oh so fun to drive. Goes from Zero to 100 in seconds. I got a speeding ticket the third day I had it! It handles perfectly, has too-good of brakes and it is a real head-turner! However, after just over three months, Im noticing a slight rattle in the drivers window, the rear drivers-side window ate the wiper and makes a horrible screeching noise and the drivers seat is quickly becoming a rocking chair. Time to go in for some tea and crumpets while they sort it all out.

  • Not a fancy Maxima - 2002 Infiniti I35
    By -

Just picked up my I35 and love it! I also looked at Lexus ES300, BMW 5 series and Volvo S80--the I35 is definitely the best value, and 5-10K less than the others I tried. I had several Maximas before this, and have always enjoyed them, but needed a change. Ive heard the term "its a fancy Maxima", but it is not. The I35 is more in the luxury class, while Maxima is sporty--both extremely reliable!

  • 8 Person Luxury Vehicle - 2010 Infiniti QX56

The seating in this SUV is awesome. We like the 3nd row middle seat that folds down to let the kids in the back. With 4 kids and grandma it is extremely comfortable. We looked at the Mercedes GL, Audi, and Sequoia and found this truck a much better deal and a much nicer ride and comfort. The electronics are great.
