Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Perfect Car For Me - 2000 Infiniti I30

I purchased my I30 in 2003 with 47K miles on it. It now has 195K miles on it & I expect to get at least 250K without trying. Besides replacing brakes, tires, & battery, the only major issue Ive had was a transmission rebuild at 150K. The car still runs & looks like new - I still enjoy driving it today as much as I did when I bought it. I took in for service a couple of years ago & was given a 2010 G35 as a loaner car. I was expecting to be sold on trading up, but I was dissapointed in the ride & overall feel of the G35. I couldnt wait to get back into my I30. Also, the last time I put new tires on it, the serviceman couldnt believe how old it was & how good it looked.

  • G35 Sedan - Great so far - 2003 Infiniti G35

Great car. 1st "Entry-Luxury" car owned. Compared to BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Acura, G35 was the best bang for the buck (Acura TLs standard features made it a close second). Great exceleration and handling. I didnt want to be another sheep in the flock (BMWs, Mercs, etc). The G35 still stands out in the crowd.

i picked up my g35 less than 2 weeks ago and have loved it ever since. well, ive loved it since i started researching about the car. to tell you the truth, the moment i sat in the leather seat for my test drive, i was sold. i literally bought the car the first day that the local dealer received its one and only ivory pearl for the month. this car performs like a sports car, but still offers luxury.

  • A Joyous Ride - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

Ive had my G35 for exactly a year now. It has been an absolute blast to drive (straight line it might not be the fastest, but cornering and grip with some summer tires on it and its second to none). Unfortunately, Ive put almost 20000 miles on it and the way gas is going that part has not been fun. If Premium ever hits 4.00 in NJ i think ill be forced to trade it in seeing as that Im only getting about 20- 21 MPG lately. But if you want a great ride and to push your car to the limits, this is the car you want

  • Best car Ive owned - 2004 Infiniti G35

This is literally the best car Ive ever owned, for me anyway. And that includes Lincolns, Hondas (incl. S2000), corvette, z car. The styling gets comments every day and its been out for 2 years, the engine is superb, I dont even miss my S2000 except for the cloth top. I dont know what other reviewers are looking for who are rating this low for gas mileage, but I routinely get 18-21 mpg, including a good bit of town driving. OK, Id like them to move the seat switches (and add memory seats, but I understand thats a problem with a 2-door). The trunk holds my golf bag and more, much more with the rear seat folded down.

  • The Hybrid Engine is a Scam! - 2014 Infiniti QX60
    By -

If you want better gas mileage do Not buy the QX60 Hybrid. I bought one in December 2013. After a few weeks of poor gas mileage and noticing that the Hybrid engine seemed never to be running, I took it to the dealer. The service guy told me that the Hybrid engine by design does not work when either the AC or heater is on! Thats 99% of the time that I will be driving. Total nonsense. I paid an extra $3,000 to get the same gas mileage that the gas only version gets. There was absolutely NO disclosure from my salesman about the "unique" way this hybrid engine works, or more accurately does not work! No one would ever pay the extra $3,000 if they new the truth! I feel totally robbed!
