Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Love the Car--Hate the Cupholders - 2009 Infiniti G37

I have had my convertible for over a month. I have been waiting for it since Feb. I LOVE everything about it, except the cuphold situation-- or more accurately, the lack of good cupholders. I ordered the manual version and test drove the automatic. Different cupholders! Also, my average gas mileage is about 17.1 mpg. I would love to get the advertised 19-21mpg. Im still learning all the features to the car, but I am totally enjoying the navigation system and phone/iPod connection. Also, the speakers in the headrest is the best. I will say that the Lexus has more trunk space with the top down than the Infiniti. I only have room for an umbrella and a baseball hat in the trunk.

  • A Porsche sedan - 2003 Infiniti G35

Dealer called it a 2003 1/2. Infiniti raised the price for the Leather model $700, but made Xenon headlights standard, as well as the radio coming equipped for Satelite. The rear deck was redesigned for the better. Have Premium and Sport Package. When bought new with 11 miles, the tire pressure was 41 pounds all around. I reduced the pressure to 32 pounds and the car not only rides better - more supple - it actually handles better. The Bose radio disappoints - I found a solution: adjust treble to +3 and bass to -3. Only real gripe is the gas mileage. Gets 14 mpg in normal city driving.(95% stop and go city streets, 5% highway).

  • Shouldve Bought a bimmer or a Benz - 2001 Infiniti QX4
    By -

Im the second owner of the vehicle, I bought it with 41k, I had replaced the following under warranty : transmission solenoid kit, both side ball joints, both side outer CV boots, left strut bar, driver seat heated seat switch, viscous coupler (noise from fan),the whole audio system (CD, radio and cassette), driver seat motor and seat track assembly(driver seat rocking when moving back and forth),cigarrette lighter. Currently Im out of warranty and have these problems : Air intake solenoid needs to be replaced (the car pulls hard),and my biggest disappointment is that, the rear right side is sitting higher than the left side, the dealer says its within vehicle specs (RL:815mm,RR:825mm)

  • Been a month... so far so good - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

So far so good... Ive just passed the break-in period, but this damn rain has kept me from seeing what this car can really do. Acceleration is almost too smooth for me... I prefer to have my head snapped back as opposed to stealth speed. Cockpit controls are poorly designed--after a month, I still fumble with the stereo. And what is it with the dashboard glare? Minor quibbles, as this car is fast, fun, and uniquely stylish.

  • fantastic car - 2006 Infiniti M45
    By -

This car is really fun to drive; terrific acceleration on the freeway. As a former Lexus owner, the road feel of the M45 is a welcome change from riding in a cocoon. The dash console is attractive but a little confusing. Sirius satellite radio is a big plus.

  • Sportiest in this class - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Ive put about 5000 miles on this car. I test drove its competitors prior to my purchase, and Ive subsequently accompanied a couple of friends on a series of test drives of this & similar cars... bottom line, no other car in this class can touch the G35s performance & poise. At the same time, its competitors (possibly excepting the Cadillac CTS) all out-class it in terms of interior quality, styling & ergonomics.

  • Exellent chasis, confused powertrain - 2011 Infiniti G Sedan
    By -

I have the regualr, non-sport G37 with stick 17 wheels, and the car is still very sporty, very neutral. At the same time the ride is well composed and smooth. Interior quality is good but not great. Its about on par with my VW GTI in terms material quality for the dash and all the nobs. The fake wood ook good but Ive seen better. Leather is fine, but again not the best. Layout is very logical though. Interior room is also fine, but a little less that I expected for a vehicle this size. Considering the my other car, a VW GTI, which is some 20 in shorter has nearly as much front and backseat room... I will describe the power-train in suggested improvements page.

  • good, but my M45 is better - 2006 Infiniti QX56
    By -

Outperforms any comparable SUV by a county mile, extremely comfortable on long trips, 19mpg is a complete fiction, more like 13. Looks improve dramatically with custom wheels (mine are 22"). Hard to adjust a/c comfortably, though its powerful, same with stereo system. DVD system is complicated. Have had problems with shuddering during braking, but Infiniti service is first class - they try very hard to please

  • Nice Car! - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

This is a "fun" car. Overall, it is a great little sports car. My son loves to drive it. Its sharp looking, great speed, comfortable.

  • Love our G35 - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

We bought our G35 brand new and now have 106,000 miles on it. We have basically changed the oil every 3000 miles, performed regular maintenance, and had the brakes worked on every year. That was the only disappointment. The steering is starting to make some noise now -- will have it checked out, but the car has been trouble free. Thinking about buying another one!
