Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • The wife loves it - 2009 Infiniti G37

Replaced the spouses Audi TT with a G37 because so many friends recommended Infiniti. If its as reliable as I hope I will be ecstatic. Wife is now thrilled with the car. I love the combination of sport performance with a touch of luxury.

  • Beautiful Gas Hog - 2004 Infiniti G35

Bought my G35 with 25000 miles on it fell in love with its styling. Took a test drive at the dealer and noticed a problem with the rotors, big time noise as the car move forward, the faster it went, the louder it got. Told the sales guy to replace the rotors and they did. I then decided to put 20 inch rims on it - WOW! It looks incredible. People just stop and stare 3000 miles later my rotors went south on me. Another thing is the gas mileage is horrible. If youre a lead foot then I hope you have deep pockets. Remember it only takes 93 octanr and at $4.10 a gallon OUCH!

  • OMG!!!! Yes Yes - 2006 Infiniti G35

Bought used with 12k in 2007, now has 42k &love it.Has every available option.Tight twisty roads are a dream to drive.Made many people scream railing into a corner then laugh like a kid with thrill that the car stayed planted firm and ready for more. Amazing brakes will force the blood to your cheeks.Dealer support is far superior to my piece of junk BMW.Called dealer to see about a warning light and techs very helpful, just needed brake pads (oem only $82),brake sensor is well designed also has built in tool on rotor that will release rotor in seconds.Installed cold air intake, it added noticeably more power on bottom and sounds sweet! No problems.Bose audio is great with no distortion at loud levels.

  • 108K Miles Later... still a blast - 2006 Infiniti G35

Purchased our G new off the lot nearly 6 years ago. Premium package, no nav. The car has been a rock and has survived our abuse and aged quite gracefully. No major repairs needed to date. Fuel consumption is probably the only major knock against the car, everything else is quite good. This car is my daily driver, and I drive it hard. I prefer sportiness over cush rides, but still like a bit of luxury so this car really fit the bill. The handling is excellent, the balance is good, and easy to know where the limits are. Now that the car has aged and the values have dropped quite a bit, I would suggest anyone looking for a fun daily driver or second semi-practical car to look into the G.

  • Fru Fru 4 Wheeler - 1997 Infiniti QX4
    By -

The QX4 is definitely in the category of luxury 4x4s. Lots of cushion and comfortable seats with plenty of room for long drives. Compared to its sibling the Pathfinder, the Q offers a much smoother ride, much more cushion and its weight makes you "feel" more protected when traveling on the highway. Handling = adequate. Power = severely lacking...we feel like the flinstones peddling up the hills. Great car for those who drive mostly around town, with occasional off-road adventures. If you want a lot of power and plan to tow heavy loads the 97Q is not for you. We love taking it on trips but hate paying the gas bill.

  • Great - 2003 Infiniti I35

One of the best cars Ive ever owned, maybe the best. The ride is wonderful. You feel like you are riding on a cushion of air. Turning is responsive and acceleration is superb. Ive had no rattles. This is a very tight car. I would not hestitate to get another, and Ive not regretted the purchase once

  • You get more than what you pay - 2003 Infiniti I35

So far I havent had any problems with my Infiniti I35. I feel that it was a great purchase because of all the features and benefits you get for the price that you pay.

  • Warning! Watch out fot the seats. - 2002 Infiniti I35
    By -

The front seats look good, but not ergonomically correct. There is not enough support in the lower thigh, and there is no adjustment to extend the length of the seat. Even with the lumbar support, there is not enough support in the lower back, which result in back pain, discomfort and frustration. My commute to work is only about half an hour, but after a few minutes of driving I can’t wait to get out of this car because of discomfort.

  • One of the first owners.... - 2003 Infiniti G35

I put about 350 miles on my new white\black coupe in just three days of un filled driving fun. The power of the coupe is much smoother than the sedan. Handling and response is very good. They fixed the light on the clock so it is a bit brighter than on the sedan. The seats are fantastic, and the sound system is second to none. The ride and handling is very German in nature. A lot of car the $$. This is much sporter than the BMW coupe which has more back seat room and a tad bit better fit and finish. If you get a chance to drive one, you will want one.
