Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • my 2 cents - 2004 Infiniti G35

Ownership satisfaction is less then what I expected. At full stop the car vibrates. The steering wheel vibrates at any speed. Mediocre stereo system and poorly designed temperature control. The heated seat is just a joke. Only half of it is heated and your butt is warm but your thighs are cold. No standard rear view mirror dimming control. I got 12 to 14 mpg city and 20 mpg highway consistently. I got the car thinking the AWD feature will add safety and performance for the New England winter but it does so with many sacrifications, especially the gas mileage is unexceptable.

This Infinity is sure to have a definate impact on the consumer looking for a good handling car. This isnt a BMW but its money well spent. Ride, conering and interstate crusing are top rated. I was in the market for a BMW 530I and changed my mind for this Infinity G-35 with the sports package. I havent looked back since. Actually , the looks alone are worth it as people seem not to know exactly what it is yet.

I rented one to go to Las Vegas and fell in love with it. Very comfortable and a joy to drive. I came home and bought one. I have only driven Fords up until this car, I wont be going back..

  • What a great SUV - 2004 Infiniti QX56

Have never owned an Infiniti, outstanding SUV, aside from some problems with the dealer, and wishing the color really was Cobalt blue, the body shops say it is actually deep sea metallic blue,it has really been impressive

The car peforms well and is fun to drive Rear wheel drive gives the car a seat of the pants feel so you feel one with the car.I would like to see a manual oil presser gage with this car not just a light.Maybe manual volt meter also. The car is guite but still has a good engine sound to let you know what your are driving,Best Buy for the MONEY. Another words if you want to go faster you going to have to Pay more.Great car though.

  • Love the car, Hate the tire pressure - 2004 Infiniti G35

I love my G35 coupe. The only problems I am having is the tire pressure light coming on....this is very annoying and has happend 3 times already. Glendale Infiniti sucks dont ever go there! they are rude and dont care about you...also my brakes are very very sqeaky.

  • No buyers regrets - 2003 Infiniti G35

After much study & evaluation of BMWs, A4, CTS,Jag X,LS,SAAB, S-80 I finally made the cut to the G35 and I dont regret it at all. All the above are decent cars, but the G is far and away the best driving and looking. The power, style (garnet red)w/ all the features, aero, premium, xenons, htd seats, makes driving a plus. Handles excellent and the motor - what a gem- 260 hp, ready to rock n roll.

  • I once loved it, but its a terrible car - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

Let me start by saying I love the look, feel and performance of this car. But thats where it ends. I have had problem after problem after problem with this car. Heres the list - power locks, speakers, CD changer, navigation system, cruise control, steering wheel audio controls, brakes, brake calipers...and thats just what was replaced! They cant figure out why I get noise from my moonroof and water on the floor when it rains hard or the ticking from my dash when I step on the brakes on a hot day. As much as I love to drive this car...I cant wait to get rid of it. I have owned three Chevys, a Pontiac and a Mazda before this. All of them COMBINED did not have this many problems! Hopefully its a more reliable car now that its six model years later. After all of the problems Ive had with the car as well as dealing with Infiniti themselves, I will NEVER purchase another Infiniti or Nissan product.

This is a very well built piece of machinery. The tires that came with the vehicle were terrible but other than that I give it an A+

  • The best Big SUV on the market - 2008 Infiniti QX56
    By -

Had the car for 45 days. Love it. Excellent fit and finish and gadgetry for the price (or any). Finally a big SUV with 20" rims standard (hated large cars with tiny wheels and empty wheel well). Entertainment center is an afterthought and not as well integrated (placed in the center console instead of the front dashboard, screens are not in headrest, plays only one dvd, interface not easily accessible), hence its an option. Puts the Escalade ESV to shame (loud over priced truck) for 20K less. Handles like a large sedan, not a truck.
