Feeling Stiffed - 2002 Infiniti QX4
By BWR - May 3 - 10:00 amThe QX4 has made some good improvements, but it is still more truck than car. I found out too late that I paid over $1,500 too much for the vehicle... this is the third new Infiniti vehicle I have purchased from Pinnacle Infiniti of Scottsdale in 5 years. I expected to be treated fairly. Additionally, the Navigation Systems were upgraded during the year.. the early systems are CD driven, the newer ones are DVD driven. If you purchased a CD version, be aware that it is obsolete. The DVD version covers USA and Canada.. the CD version USA only, and you have to purchase several CDs. Infiniti consumer affairs doesnt have much sympathy if you get stuck with the old CD system.

Too many expensive repair problems - 2002 Infiniti QX4
By Bob Craig - November 10 - 7:46 pmI liked the look and ride but the repair bills killed me; shocks, catalytic converters, fan motor, exhaust system, fuel injecters leaked. Resale value / trade in not good. Bad fuel mileage.

Electrical problems with our Q - 2001 Infiniti QX4
By QX4me3434 - March 3 - 12:10 pmWe thought this was one of the best values on the road as we previously had good experiences with Nissan Pathfinders. Unfortunately, electrical problems have ruined an otherwise good ownership experience with our QX4. We should have seen the early warning signs. Had to replace the entire radio/CD player at 25,000 miles (under warranty), have replaced batteries once a year for a non start - completely dead issue - something creating a slow draw from the car when it sits parked. The longer it is parked, the more chance it wont start. Now that were out of the warranty, CD player is again not working and the car needs to be jumped once a week. Take it to the dealer and no problems can be found.

Stay clear of this one - 2002 Infiniti QX4
By DSS - January 18 - 10:00 amI bought this car 5 months ago and I have had numerous problems with it. It has been to the dealership at least 10 times. Issues include failed power windows (passenger and driver side), rattling vents (one actually pooped out), squeaking sound from rear hatch and vibrating rear view mirror. The extra $$$$ you pay for the supposedly great Infiniti dealership and headquarters service is a sham. I have told all that would listen to stay clear from this brand until they get their act together. If you want service get a Lexus. If you want performance get a BMW. If you need the room get the Acura. Stay clear of the QX4.

Beauty Without Brains - 2001 Infiniti QX4
By Anita G Hehl - March 27 - 6:13 pmAlthough this SUV appeals to my senses it has become a disappointment from an owners view. I am a small (54") female but find this suv cramped both front and back. Drivers seat is small and uncomfortable on long drives. Back seat has no head room for taller people. Gas mileage is poor (wish they had not made it a 4wd I have yet to use it). Having mechanical problems 1120 miles. "Check engine soon" light comes on and auto will run like choke is stuck . Later it will correct itself until another time. I expected to get 200,000+ from an Infiniti with routine maintenance without any problems. Needs true engine reliability. Expected more from an Infiniti.

Never Again - 1997 Infiniti QX4
By Malibuwaverunner - July 15 - 10:00 amThis was my first car when I was 17. Went to get it with my grandfather. The first 6 months were great! I enjoyed driving this SUV. However this went downhill very quickly. The first thing to go were the rotors and since the first time i had them repaired ive had to have them replaced twice!! Ive only owned the car 2 years! This is an obvious engineering flaw. This on top of the air conditioning going out($1500) and the struts ($1000) is ridiculous. I could have purchased a REAL luxury car like a BMW or Mercedes-Benz and been better off! If youre thinking of purchasing one please think twice! Japanese engineering is not the best and is filled with flaws. Just as a warning!

Good SUV - 1997 Infiniti QX4
By djlarroc - November 7 - 12:48 amHad this vechicle for about 3 years/30k. It was reliable, and maintenance was not bad. Ride was a bit stiff, and MPG was terrible. About 14-15MPG. 3.3 V6 struggles badly to move this heavy SUV. But it was a nice luxury SUV, and in the snow, it was among the best. Great winter vehicle. Radio went out, starter, and some other minor things, but no big deal. My full size Tahoe gets better MPG and with a lot more power.

A Posh Pathfinder - 1997 Infiniti QX4
By D. OConnor - February 25 - 12:16 amAs a first car, the QX4 has served me well. Its got good looks and above-average handling for a truck on its side, but as time wore on its, deficiencies became more and more apparent. Gas mileage is awful; 15 mpg is about the norm for me and I can rarely go more than 250 miles on a tank, this with a (horribly gutless) V6! The ride is choppy in the back seat, which itself is cramped with next to no headroom for me, though admittedly Im also 61". And while the overall maneuverability is good, the steering is way too heavy and has little feel (it also seems to be permanently misaligned despite a visit to the shop, which may just be an age-related issue).
