Overview & Reviews
Nissan launched its upscale Infiniti division in 1989 with two unique models and a polarizing ad campaign. More than two decades later, Infiniti continues to blaze its own trail in pursuit of luxury, performance and style. The Infiniti G37 sport coupe, sedan and convertible are prime examples of this corporate philosophy. Blessed with a split personality, the rear-wheel-drive G37 will deliver you to work in luxury during the week and then clip apexes all weekend without breaking a sweat.
The list of luxury sport coupes and sedans is typically dominated by elite Teutonic nameplates. In readying the G37, Infiniti honed it on test circuits throughout Europe, including Germany's famed Nürburgring. This athletic chassis, along with the G's attractive sticker price, distinctive interior appointments and ample array of technology, makes it well prepared for battle in this class.
Used Infiniti G37 Models
The Infiniti G37 was first introduced as a coupe for 2008, with the convertible arriving the following year. Technically, the G37 sedan arrived for 2009 as well, but it was really the same vehicle as the second-generation G35 sedan that arrived for '07, albeit with a larger 3.7-liter V6. Confused yet? It gets worse. For 2011, Infiniti officially broke these cars apart into separate models, so for information on a new G, please read the Infiniti G Sedan review, Infiniti G Coupe review and Infiniti G Convertible review.
Used Infiniti G37 models are available in coupe, sedan or convertible body styles, with four possible trim levels: base, Journey, G37x and Sport 6MT. The convertible was only offered in base or Sport 6MT trim, though. For 2010, a special range-topping Anniversary model added features that included navigation, an upgraded Bose audio system, iPod connectivity and ventilated seats (for the convertible only).
In addition to the long list of standard features packaged with each trim level, several options, including the Anniversary add-ons were available à la carte. Adaptive cruise control will alleviate some fatigue on long trips, while the available Sport package (standard on the G37 Sport 6MT and optional on the G37 Journey) will rouse the interest of more aggressive drivers thanks to features like a limited-slip differential, a sport-tuned suspension and brakes, sport seats and bigger wheels.
A four-wheel active steer system (4WAS) was available for those obsessed with pushing the technological envelope, but reactions were mixed, with several drivers noting diminished steering feedback in vehicles equipped with 4WAS. It was eliminated after 2009. Stability control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags can be found on all used Infiniti G37s, and a pre-collision preparation feature was optional.
During these years, the G37's 3.7-liter V6 produced a very healthy 330 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, fed to either the rear wheels or all four (G37x). In base, Journey and G37x trims, the G37 came with a seven-speed automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters, while the Sport 6MT featured a six-speed manual. Both transmissions have their devotees, but the clutch take-up in the manual is a little too abrupt. Acceleration and mileage numbers are comparable between the automatic and manual, so the choice is a matter of personal preference.
A used G37 from these years offered user-friendly controls, excellent build quality and a handsome design -- the latter highlighted by such items as the car's leather-accented magnesium transmission paddle shifters and attractive interior trim. The front seats are comfortable and well-bolstered, and the available sport-styled seats offer even more aggressive bolstering, though they may be a bit too snug for larger drivers. Both the sedan and coupe feel like sports cars wrapped in a luxury car package, but the coupe, with seats that are mounted slightly lower than the sedan's, feels a bit racier. We're less enamored with the convertible, as it's less refined and practical than its competitors from those years.
Overall, the Infiniti G37 stands shoulder to shoulder with all its contemporary rivals in the entry-level luxury segment. Used car consumers in the market for such a vehicle would be wise to put it at the top of their to-drive list.

Hottest coupe for the money. - 2009 Infiniti G37
By joew6969 - April 5 - 10:36 amI just purchased this 2009 G37x coupe for my wife. She previously owned a 2008 G35x sedan, but had always wanted the coupe but they did not make it in an all wheel drive version. This car is quick, sporty, luxurious, handles like a dream and has all the toys you could want. It definitely stands out in a crowd with its looks and keeps you pampered on the inside. We ordered it fully loaded with the tech pkg, nav pkg, prem pkg, spoiler, wood trim, factory impact sensor alarm and the illuminated kick plates. I am 62" and have no problem driving or riding in this coupe.

Not one to over-look! - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Ricefan - April 3 - 2:46 pmGreat all-around luxury/sports sedan. Plenty of power is there throughout the powerband. Transmission responds when you want it to, yet is smooth in nearly all driving conditions. All- wheel drive is great in rainy conditions and light snow. Getting around 23-27 mpg in city and highway mix with normal driving habits (depending on the mix of city verses highway miles and how hard I drive the car). Recently got 31.2 mpg with cruise set at 58 mpg on eastern shore of MD! Handling is great without S trim - no need to upgrade unless you really want a bit more performance for the extra $. Nice standard technology and luxury with more toys and comfort features available if you want them.

Superior car for the price! - 2009 Infiniti G37
By g8trguy - March 22 - 4:36 amThis is the second Nissan product I have owned, the first being a 93 300ZX. The Infiniti is an incredible vehicle from nearly every aspect. Its tough to beat what you get for the price with this car. My previous car, a BMW 335i was constantly in and out of the shop.

Great car! - 2008 Infiniti G37
By Jeff - March 4 - 8:30 pmThis is simply the best car I have ever owned, sporty tuned ride with luxury interior, beautiful leather! My z4 was too stiff!! The G37 was not only the best value but the best car under 35k period! The A4 is under powered as is the 328i which comes with fake leather in the base... Its only comp is the 335i and the A5 but they cost so much more! and the 335i just isnt that comfortable to drive!

Amazing Car - 2008 Infiniti G37
By CB_CEP - February 15 - 11:00 pmJust got the car! Journey with Prem. Pkg., Navi, Illuminated Kick Plates, Cargo Net. What an amazing car! I searched and searched and test drove and test drove. The car is luxurious and appropriately sporty. I forwent the Sport Pkg. because I am 36 and the sportiest car is no longer the most important to me. The all season tires should last a bit longer. The ride is a bit nicer and the seats are just as comfortable in my opinion. I dont think Ill miss the larger brakes and the limited slip diff.

Good Choice - 2009 Infiniti G37
By rxd - February 6 - 7:16 amI moved to Minnesota from AZ a while ago and wanted to purchase a AWD vehicle. After an exhaustive search I chose the G37x and could not be happier. I thought I would miss my BMW 3 series but I am surprised to say I dont. It is a different drive but as a daily commuter way outclasses my old car.

The King is buried and gone!! - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Brian H. - February 3 - 10:13 pmI have owned many vehicles including the KING of performance, the ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE and yes the Bimmers are a blast to drive they just lack all of the other stuff you would expect when you are purchasing a luxury vehicle. Simply the Infiniti G37 gives you the performance of the Bimmer but for a whole lot less and ten times more technology and features you cannot even get on the BMW. I know, I know, people always say if you can afford a BMW then money really is not an issue but in this day and age $10k is still $10k. Unless you must have those three letters in your driveway, get the Infiniti G37xS and if you want to blow $10k buy some GM stock.

A Thrill of a Ride..WOW - 2008 Infiniti G37
By G - January 13 - 9:56 pm2 weeks and 500 miles later I still have a huge smile on my face each time I drive it. Got the premium pkg with 19" sport wheels. I now look foward in the mornings to start her up and head to work just for the chance to drive this car. Acceleration is FUN-nominal and this car turns heads ever where I go and each compliment are very positive. There is nothing I would change on this car, its a pleasure to drive everytime. Each time I get out of the car I find myself looking back with a smile wishing I could just keep driving. Test drove the BMW 335i, Acura TL & Lexus IS350 and none had it all wrapped in one beautiful pkg as the G37 did.

Glad I Picked This One - 2009 Infiniti G37
By mlapin - January 12 - 12:33 pmJust bought two days ago. Was insistent on purchasing the BMW 335i con. until I drove this car. It had me at hello. I love everything about it. Of course, it has only been two days. If first impressions count, this car is now my baby, and my 5 year old has been upgraded from my baby to my little boy.
