Overview & Reviews
Nissan launched its upscale Infiniti division in 1989 with two unique models and a polarizing ad campaign. More than two decades later, Infiniti continues to blaze its own trail in pursuit of luxury, performance and style. The Infiniti G37 sport coupe, sedan and convertible are prime examples of this corporate philosophy. Blessed with a split personality, the rear-wheel-drive G37 will deliver you to work in luxury during the week and then clip apexes all weekend without breaking a sweat.
The list of luxury sport coupes and sedans is typically dominated by elite Teutonic nameplates. In readying the G37, Infiniti honed it on test circuits throughout Europe, including Germany's famed Nürburgring. This athletic chassis, along with the G's attractive sticker price, distinctive interior appointments and ample array of technology, makes it well prepared for battle in this class.
Used Infiniti G37 Models
The Infiniti G37 was first introduced as a coupe for 2008, with the convertible arriving the following year. Technically, the G37 sedan arrived for 2009 as well, but it was really the same vehicle as the second-generation G35 sedan that arrived for '07, albeit with a larger 3.7-liter V6. Confused yet? It gets worse. For 2011, Infiniti officially broke these cars apart into separate models, so for information on a new G, please read the Infiniti G Sedan review, Infiniti G Coupe review and Infiniti G Convertible review.
Used Infiniti G37 models are available in coupe, sedan or convertible body styles, with four possible trim levels: base, Journey, G37x and Sport 6MT. The convertible was only offered in base or Sport 6MT trim, though. For 2010, a special range-topping Anniversary model added features that included navigation, an upgraded Bose audio system, iPod connectivity and ventilated seats (for the convertible only).
In addition to the long list of standard features packaged with each trim level, several options, including the Anniversary add-ons were available à la carte. Adaptive cruise control will alleviate some fatigue on long trips, while the available Sport package (standard on the G37 Sport 6MT and optional on the G37 Journey) will rouse the interest of more aggressive drivers thanks to features like a limited-slip differential, a sport-tuned suspension and brakes, sport seats and bigger wheels.
A four-wheel active steer system (4WAS) was available for those obsessed with pushing the technological envelope, but reactions were mixed, with several drivers noting diminished steering feedback in vehicles equipped with 4WAS. It was eliminated after 2009. Stability control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags can be found on all used Infiniti G37s, and a pre-collision preparation feature was optional.
During these years, the G37's 3.7-liter V6 produced a very healthy 330 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, fed to either the rear wheels or all four (G37x). In base, Journey and G37x trims, the G37 came with a seven-speed automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters, while the Sport 6MT featured a six-speed manual. Both transmissions have their devotees, but the clutch take-up in the manual is a little too abrupt. Acceleration and mileage numbers are comparable between the automatic and manual, so the choice is a matter of personal preference.
A used G37 from these years offered user-friendly controls, excellent build quality and a handsome design -- the latter highlighted by such items as the car's leather-accented magnesium transmission paddle shifters and attractive interior trim. The front seats are comfortable and well-bolstered, and the available sport-styled seats offer even more aggressive bolstering, though they may be a bit too snug for larger drivers. Both the sedan and coupe feel like sports cars wrapped in a luxury car package, but the coupe, with seats that are mounted slightly lower than the sedan's, feels a bit racier. We're less enamored with the convertible, as it's less refined and practical than its competitors from those years.
Overall, the Infiniti G37 stands shoulder to shoulder with all its contemporary rivals in the entry-level luxury segment. Used car consumers in the market for such a vehicle would be wise to put it at the top of their to-drive list.

Does it come better? - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Esko - December 7 - 10:50 amLooking and researching the Gs from the previous body style I took a dive for this one, and believe me, its 180 degree turn from their previous model. Like said before, gotta get the packages. I have the 4wheel active steer pkg (takes corners at whatever speed without body role... good investment), premium, navigation, tech pkg (intelligent cruise control). The shifting and acceleration is as sporty and amazing as driving a little 2dr lotus!! Braking is as smooth and effective as a $100K automobile... and the best part, its a quiet, sleek, quality car... without shouting for attention like the MB, BMW etc!

G 37x Coupe A Perfect 10 - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Joe H - November 2 - 5:50 amI bought a BMW 328XI coupe a few months ago in error and now made the change to the G37X. Though the mistake cost me, it was well worth it. The difference between the two cars and the value you get with the G37 made the change something that I had to do. Though the 328XI is a fine car, it does not have the road manners of the G37X. I have always wanted the G37X and I waited for the AWD to become available in the coupe. This car is a monster on the road, the ride is perfectly smooth, the quality of the ride is perfect and the performance is impeccable. Infiniti is number one with me.

Good but not the Best - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Abujamil - October 29 - 11:10 amMy first time I have Inifiniti G37 Coupe, it was fun to drive... a good horse power, but its for sure not a gas friendly car, I have seen avg 14Mpg to max 20 Mpg, and the sport model type have a noisy tires until you get used to it. Small seats, its made for big people. It has a good features. Im enjoying it but I wont buy it again if I was asked to buy it.

Repeat Infiniti Owner - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Amy Dower - September 27 - 5:23 pmLove this car! I owned the first G35 coupe back in 2003 and traded it in 2006 for Lexus IS and missed the G every day until I bought my 2009 G37 Journey coupe the other day. Feels great to drive a real high performance car again.

Great Coupe! - 2009 Infiniti G37
By carlineneg - September 12 - 6:04 pmFor the money, and then some, the G37 was a hot coupe. It is now a little long in the tooth, but when it came out, and maybe even now, I am not sure what you can get for $40-45k that looks and performs as well in the segment.

Performance, Luxury, Personality - 2009 Infiniti G37
By Johnny Utahraptor - September 7 - 3:46 amReviews seem to be pretty consistent on the 3- series/G-series rivalry vis-a-vis performance, lavishness, etc., and I have to agree. I just traded up from a 323i, and although thats an older/lower end car, I do have to say the performance:luxury ratio is far more skewed towards power in the case of the G37. That said, I find it to be a very comfortable, stylish ride, FUN to drive (strong emphasis there), and (especially living in CA), a beautiful, unique, stand-out car. "Bang for the buck" doesnt begin to describe it. Given the choice between a G37 and 335i, Id still take the G. Implied note: Audi/Mercedes/Lexus -- no comparison.

It had to grow on me - 2009 Infiniti G37
By MontereyST3 - August 8 - 2:00 amI spend a lot of time in the car and after driving a Matrix it was quite an adjustment. Its not as nimble as the Matrix but excels on the highway which was what I needed. Road noise could be less over poor roads but good roads its very quiet. Ill try softer tires next and that may help. The car is really much more of a sports car than a sedan. Cabin is tight but once adjusted it seems normal. I like the simplicity of the interior. Everything else I looked at was very busy inside with buttons everywhere. I dont need a decoder manual to operate the climate controls. The ride is smooth and at 5 pm when I have four more hours of driving to go before I get home, its worth the money.

Fantastic, Beautiful, Fast, Refined Car - 2008 Infiniti G37
By jrays - June 13 - 7:46 amI just picked up my 2008 G37 Journey last night. I already have a few hundred miles on it and I absolutely am in love with this car. It has a red exterior and black interior, with the Premium, Navigation, Technology and Sports packages. It also came with the spoiler, splash guards and cargo net. Its a dream to drive. Quiet on the inside with a sweet exhaust note. Even with the Sports package, it rides really well. It is a really refined and well-built car. It has so many "toys" that I dont know where to start. Its a beautiful car and its getting a lot of attention and positive comments. This one is destined to be a classic.

Great Midlife Crisis Fix - 2008 Infiniti G37
By Dave - May 19 - 5:26 amI bought the G37 for myself as a 40th birthday splurge. This is the best sports coupe your money can buy without completely splurging and buying a Corvette. Plus, it seats 4 halfway comfortably! Ive owned this car for over one year, and it still feels like a new toy every time I drive it, or even look at it. Im a very thorough researcher, and I couldnt find another car with the performance, looks, and features of this one in the price range. Once I test drove it, the decision was a complete no brainer.
