  • A Winning Motorcar - 2004 Hyundai XG350

My 350L is the best motorcar I have ever owned. The ride, stylig and quality are what sold me on it. My neighbors and friends all say I have a luxury sedan. I tell them (including my wife) that it isnt listed as one. But! It should be reclassified as such with the Luxus, BMW and Infinity lines.

I was looking for a reasonable pre-owned car after losing my company car. After reading Consumer Reports, this one seemed a decent bet. Picked it up dirt cheap ($10,750) with 30k miles. Overall, it has been very solid. Not quite to level of Honda and Toyota quality, but not too far off. Handling is decent. Looks (interior and exterior) like a much more expensive car. Issues: (1) Speakers suck. I replaced fronts with Pioneer 2 way($50 Walmart) and sound greatly improved. (2) Drive by wire throttle is touchy. Drive easy for awhile and it will calm down plus you will get used to the hair trigger. (3) Gas mileage is fair for a car of this size (about 22 to 24). Overall, quite pleased.

  • 2nd Hyundai - 2004 Hyundai XG350

this has been our main vehicle for 3.5 years - we bought it new after looking at various Japanese and american cars of similar size and options. for much less money AND with over double the warranty we just grin as we drive our (now) paid off car. we have had 1 issue with the car at around 50k miles - the throttle body assembly had to be replaced which was performed under warranty with no hassles at all. had that happend on any other car that expensive part and labor would have set us back about $1300. AND, IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY for another 25k+ miles (ha ha!). btw, we traded in a 2002 Elantra GT (sweet car also) to upgrade to the XG - we never had a minutes probelm with the GT.

  • Lexus for 1/2 the price. - 2004 Hyundai XG350

Absolutely LOVE my XG350L. Its like a Lexus for 1/2 the price. Features galor. Beautiful inside and out. Have not encountered the transmission issue mentioned in the editors review. It does have some body roll in quick tight turns and undulates a bit when driving fast on bumpy roads, but if I wanted a more sporty ride for more enthusiatic driving, I would have bought something else. What I wanted was a luxurious, smooth riding, touring vehicle. Thats exactly what I got. Simply a great car for a great price.

This is my 2nd XG. I liked the performance of the XG300 and so decided to try XG350. It is best value for the money. I lived in Korea for 3 years and watched the XG come into it own since 1998. There are a lot of good cars on the market, but none can compare to the XG for value. Ive had Buicks, Pontiacs, and Oldsmobiles and the XG is far superior. Try one, youll be glad!

  • Hesitant Buyer - 2004 Hyundai XG350

After reading all the glowing consumer reviews I bought this car, unfortunately for me. I drive a lot and found that the armrest is placed too far back for me to rest my elbow on while driving. This has been a major disappointment for me as I cannot seem to get comfortable while driving. Perhaps men dont have this problem as their arms are longer but I am warning any women to make sure they feel totally comfortable before buying. I also have trouble adjusting the radio while driving, again too far away. I love the looks of the car both inside and out. The front seats could be a little longer though for better leg support.

I drove Mercedes for 15 years, most recently a 420SEL. After 150,000 miles decided to get a new car. Decided not to spend $80,000+ again. Bought the XG350 last January and am totally satisfied. Has everything the Lexus has except GPS at half the price. I literally have never even had the car back to the dealer for service; just change the oil and drive away.
