Overview & Reviews
Although it wasn't around for very long, the Hyundai Veracruz could be a worthwhile choice for a crossover SUV. As with other Hyundai models, the Veracruz boasted plenty of features for a price that was typically less than the competition. On top of this, the Veracruz also provided an impressively luxurious cabin and a quiet ride that was comparable to many luxury-branded crossover SUVs.
On the downside, it came up short in terms of interior space compared to some other large crossovers, and didn't offer much in terms of design flair. Hyundai also didn't sell very many of them, so finding a used model that fits your desires might be hard. But overall, the Veracruz is worth a look for shoppers interested in a feature-packed midsize or large crossover.
Most Recent Hyundai Veracruz
The seven-seat Hyundai Veracruz was produced from 2007 through 2012. Under the hood was a 260-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 paired to a six-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive was standard, with all-wheel drive optional.
Originally, Hyundai offered the Veracruz in GLS, SE and Limited trim levels. Standard feature highlights for the base GLS trim initially included 17-inch wheels, heated side mirrors, air-conditioning, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a six-speaker audio system with satellite radio. The SE was pretty similar. Major options for these trims included a sunroof, Bluetooth, heated front seats and a power driver seat. On the SE you could also get a power liftgate, leather upholstery and a premium audio system.
The Veracruz Limited came with most of the lower trims' options as standard. It also had dual-zone climate control and a power front passenger seat. Options included a navigation system and a surround-sound audio system.
Feature content largely remained the same throughout its run, although a navigation system and power liftgate became available for 2008. The following year the SE trim was dropped in favor of two optional packages available on the GLS. A rear-seat DVD entertainment system was offered for 2009 and '10 only.
When the Veracruz was introduced, it drew comparisons to luxury models rather than more pedestrian-badged competitors. The comparisons were not far-fetched. In our reviews, we found the Veracruz luxurious, well-built and very quiet on the road. Top crash test scores were another draw. On the downside, total interior cargo space and third-row rear seat room weren't quite as spacious as some competitors like the GMC Acadia. The Veracruz also looked pretty plain, which could be a turnoff for some buyers.

Move over Mazda CX9! - 2008 Hyundai Veracruz
By bernibookh - June 24 - 7:20 pmHyundai Veracruz Limited Edition is the best SUV on the market!(personal Opinion) After buying a 2008 Chrysler Pacifica, which turned out to be a Lemon,(Buy Back) I had my mind set on the Mazda CX9. My husband kept telling me to look at the Veracruz before buying the Mazda CX9, and I am soo happy I did! This vehicle is nice and is loaded with the best stuff! Compare interior and exterior...but by far, Hyundai Veracruz has better Warranty and the dealership was 100% better on satisfying customers! Like everyone is saying...try it! You will be glad you did! No regrets here!

Totally Amazed - 2008 Hyundai Veracruz
By Bill Stewart - June 6 - 8:40 amAfter months of research, I chose the Veracruz and love it! This SUV is extremely quiet, has plenty of horsepower and is a pleasure to drive. The power lift gate is the bomb having kids and the third row seats come in handy when carrying the neighbors kids along. Great job Hyundai - keep up the great work! Id definitely buy another one!

Love My Veracruz - 2008 Hyundai Veracruz
By Kathy - May 7 - 3:33 pmI love this car. It drives smooth, is amazing on ice and snow and is just as nice to look at as the Acura everyone else seems to own here in Alaska. I was surprised at how quick it accelerates and it purrs at 70 to 75 mph. The Bluetooth is a feature that I will never live without. For the $ I paid ($24K) I feel like I got the best car for the money. I smile every time I drive it. Dealership support also has been fantastic.

Got a lemon - 2007 Hyundai Veracruz
By cruzin3 - April 22 - 10:06 amI bought it in July 07, the first 1 that the dealer got in. Ive had nothing but problems with this car and Im considering arbitration to resolve the matter (in NV, you have to have the same prob 4x). My first incident happened at approx 1,000 miles when my fuel pump failed to get enough pressure and my car almost left me stranded in the middle of the desert. I had to take it back right away to get fixed again. At 7500 miles, I had to have my fuel pump replaced once again because the car kept seriously lagging on hills and sometimes would not start or start rough. Now the ESC off light comes on, wouldnt go in reverse for 20 mins, and once again lags on hills. Interior is nice though.

Winter Update -- WOW Continues - 2008 Hyundai Veracruz
By Augie - April 6 - 12:00 amSo, I reported in Nov-08 that I loved my Veracruz...well, that was before driving it in one of the worst snow storms weve had here in Seattle. This car is amazing in the snow! Mine is only a regular front wheel drive but the electronic stability control and traction control, along with the all weather 18" tires and shiftronic option allowed me to get around in 12" of snow while others were stuck. I was extremely pleased with the way this car managed very icy slick roads. I continue to love it!

My first SUV Experience - 2009 Hyundai Veracruz
By Fernando Furtado - March 16 - 9:03 amUntil now it is been a sort of dream. May be because it is my first experience of a SUV, but even though I like it, as I have some good experience on other cars, like MAZDA 323, Renault 21, KIA Rocster ( actually this is a SUV, so I am a litle bit experienced now, and Sephia II, also known as Pectractor, in some Countries.

Buyer Beware this car beware this dealer - 2007 Hyundai Veracruz
By Morgan Bear - March 8 - 11:00 amI bought this car 3 months ago at Stevenson Hyundai, Jacksonville,NC. and paid close to sticker, dumb.First day the CD player jammed and within 1 month the gas mileage drop off to 20.7 hiway I decided to trade it for a smaller car. I knew I was going to take a beating but did not know had badly. Short version, no dealer in the Eastern Carolnia area would give me more that 25k, the car had a sticker price of 35K, that is 11K dollars in three months. Went to Stevenson where I bought the car, 23K was the best he would offer. I asked him if he thought 12K $ in 3 months was right and he said, yep, thats about right. I finally dumped this pig it and bought a new Scion, love it.NEVER BUY THIS CAR!
