Overview & Reviews
Although it wasn't around for very long, the Hyundai Veracruz could be a worthwhile choice for a crossover SUV. As with other Hyundai models, the Veracruz boasted plenty of features for a price that was typically less than the competition. On top of this, the Veracruz also provided an impressively luxurious cabin and a quiet ride that was comparable to many luxury-branded crossover SUVs.
On the downside, it came up short in terms of interior space compared to some other large crossovers, and didn't offer much in terms of design flair. Hyundai also didn't sell very many of them, so finding a used model that fits your desires might be hard. But overall, the Veracruz is worth a look for shoppers interested in a feature-packed midsize or large crossover.
Most Recent Hyundai Veracruz
The seven-seat Hyundai Veracruz was produced from 2007 through 2012. Under the hood was a 260-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 paired to a six-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive was standard, with all-wheel drive optional.
Originally, Hyundai offered the Veracruz in GLS, SE and Limited trim levels. Standard feature highlights for the base GLS trim initially included 17-inch wheels, heated side mirrors, air-conditioning, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a six-speaker audio system with satellite radio. The SE was pretty similar. Major options for these trims included a sunroof, Bluetooth, heated front seats and a power driver seat. On the SE you could also get a power liftgate, leather upholstery and a premium audio system.
The Veracruz Limited came with most of the lower trims' options as standard. It also had dual-zone climate control and a power front passenger seat. Options included a navigation system and a surround-sound audio system.
Feature content largely remained the same throughout its run, although a navigation system and power liftgate became available for 2008. The following year the SE trim was dropped in favor of two optional packages available on the GLS. A rear-seat DVD entertainment system was offered for 2009 and '10 only.
When the Veracruz was introduced, it drew comparisons to luxury models rather than more pedestrian-badged competitors. The comparisons were not far-fetched. In our reviews, we found the Veracruz luxurious, well-built and very quiet on the road. Top crash test scores were another draw. On the downside, total interior cargo space and third-row rear seat room weren't quite as spacious as some competitors like the GMC Acadia. The Veracruz also looked pretty plain, which could be a turnoff for some buyers.

Great SUV, why no advertising? - 2009 Hyundai Veracruz
By Biz - August 4 - 12:23 amAfter checking out the Ford Flex, the Toyota Highlander & the Chevy Traverse, I went with the Veracruz initially due to the price advantage & the warranty. Now that Ive had it a month, I am very glad I got this SUV. Its great to drive, has tons of great features. Hyundai needs to advertise this great SUV!

Sure beats a van - 2007 Hyundai Veracruz
By Paul - August 3 - 8:40 pmOutstanding alternative for those who want seven passenger seating without having a truck feel/drive. Its as elegant as the high priced Acura and Lexus SUVs without hitting your wallet. Very roomy for 7 passengers and the amenities and fit and finish are excellent. Very quiet, smooth ride with a V6 that has good kick on the highway.

Luxury Car at Bargain Price - 2008 Hyundai Veracruz
By Vlad - July 16 - 2:16 pmThis is my second review of Veracruz. With 1500 miles on it Im enjoying the vehicle more and more. Prior to car purchase, id thought "Well, this is not Pilot or Highlander or CX-9, but it costs about 6 grand less". What i realize now Veracruz is actually at least AS GOOD as any competition, has a superior warranty AND it will leave a bunch of green in your wallet. It doesnt have a big name yet, but a brand name is probably not worth this much money.

Good Value. Needs some tweaks. - 2010 Hyundai Veracruz
By sagarian9 - July 11 - 7:26 amGood build quality. Not bad looking. Nice interior space. Great third row seat - adult size. Fuel economy OK - just as advertised. Seats are a little too firm. Blue digital display not easy to view. Smooth ride. Shifts too early in first, so no acceleration off the mark without flooring it. Tailgate release on key fob almost useless.

Great Value, Design and Build Quality - 2010 Hyundai Veracruz
By OCCruz - April 25 - 9:30 pmWe looked at them all and you wont find another SUV in this class that gives you a better value. Reminds me of a slightly bigger Lexus RX350 for about $8K less.

VeraCruz - 2010 Hyundai Veracruz
By Cheryl - April 5 - 7:00 amVery uncomfortable passenger and back seat. You can feel every bump and pothole magnified. Fuel economy is not what advertised.

The Best Yet - 2010 Hyundai Veracruz
By Tony near Tampa - March 2 - 2:23 pmIve been fortunate in my driving life to have owned more than a dozen cars, including Lexus, Toyotas, Porsche, Corvette, Mercedes, Chevys, and Fords too. This Hyundai Veracruz is equal or better than ANY of them. Fit and finish, overall performance, comfort, amenities, all are superb. I shopped Highlander, Venza, CX-9, Traverse (GMC and Buick also), and others. None matched for performance, options, and the big one, price. You cant beat this car for the money. Maybe not even close. Options like power lift gate, keyless entry/start, sunroof and rack, automatic A/C everywhere, dynamite sound, power trim and tilt, seat memory, Michelins, five spoke wheels, etc, make this a real winner.
