Overview & Reviews
Although it wasn't around for very long, the Hyundai Veracruz could be a worthwhile choice for a crossover SUV. As with other Hyundai models, the Veracruz boasted plenty of features for a price that was typically less than the competition. On top of this, the Veracruz also provided an impressively luxurious cabin and a quiet ride that was comparable to many luxury-branded crossover SUVs.
On the downside, it came up short in terms of interior space compared to some other large crossovers, and didn't offer much in terms of design flair. Hyundai also didn't sell very many of them, so finding a used model that fits your desires might be hard. But overall, the Veracruz is worth a look for shoppers interested in a feature-packed midsize or large crossover.
Most Recent Hyundai Veracruz
The seven-seat Hyundai Veracruz was produced from 2007 through 2012. Under the hood was a 260-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 paired to a six-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive was standard, with all-wheel drive optional.
Originally, Hyundai offered the Veracruz in GLS, SE and Limited trim levels. Standard feature highlights for the base GLS trim initially included 17-inch wheels, heated side mirrors, air-conditioning, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a six-speaker audio system with satellite radio. The SE was pretty similar. Major options for these trims included a sunroof, Bluetooth, heated front seats and a power driver seat. On the SE you could also get a power liftgate, leather upholstery and a premium audio system.
The Veracruz Limited came with most of the lower trims' options as standard. It also had dual-zone climate control and a power front passenger seat. Options included a navigation system and a surround-sound audio system.
Feature content largely remained the same throughout its run, although a navigation system and power liftgate became available for 2008. The following year the SE trim was dropped in favor of two optional packages available on the GLS. A rear-seat DVD entertainment system was offered for 2009 and '10 only.
When the Veracruz was introduced, it drew comparisons to luxury models rather than more pedestrian-badged competitors. The comparisons were not far-fetched. In our reviews, we found the Veracruz luxurious, well-built and very quiet on the road. Top crash test scores were another draw. On the downside, total interior cargo space and third-row rear seat room weren't quite as spacious as some competitors like the GMC Acadia. The Veracruz also looked pretty plain, which could be a turnoff for some buyers.

Great crossover! - 2007 Hyundai Veracruz
By Stella - November 9 - 4:06 amI looked at most of the crossovers, such as the Pilot, Outlook, Acadia, and the Mazda and Nissan versions, before deciding on the Veracruz. I do not regret my decision at all. The kids love the DVD and mom loves the sunroof and leather. The heated seats are nice too now that it is cold. The gas mileage could be a bit better but it is improving since the 1st oil change. You wont regret buying this one.

Sexy and Safe - 2007 Hyundai Veracruz
By lakopp - October 27 - 3:00 pmI had my Veracruz for a month when I was rear-ended by someone going 45 mph (I was at a complete stop). I was able to walk away from this. The Veracruz not only looks good and drives well...it crashes well! The cabin is very quiet and the ride is smooth. Great vehicle!

FABULOUS!!! - 2007 Hyundai Veracruz
By Italnskyboy - October 22 - 1:30 amOK, So I wanted something nice, good looking, a little spicy and wouldnt be embarassed to bring to a 5 star restaurant. Kinda like my search for a new boyfriend. Anyway, the VERACRUZ is the one to beat! I got the SE with the Premium Package, and by package I mean options... I love the inside and out! I also needed to pull a boat and it does with ease, not a tire squeek at the ramp. (boat is 2800lbs.) The ride is very smooth and quiet. I do mostly highway driving and get 18mpg. Although I do about 80, to get the advertised 26mpg, you have to do like 65-70, not! I have places to be and people to see. Overall, awesome vehicle, worth the look!

Gas Mileage, fantastic on highway!!! - 2008 Hyundai Veracruz
By bernibookh - October 17 - 10:20 pmI cant believe it has been almost a year since I wrote the first review on the Veracruz and I must admit I am still "VERY MUCH SATISFIED!!" My son and I traveled to Boston MA. two weeks ago, and we were so impressed at the gas mileage the Veracruz gave! My son and I decided to split the miles in half(389 each). I started out first from NC. I decided to stop and get gas after traveling 479 miles (son went to sleep) I still had a quarter of a tank left! I have to admit, I was so impressed! This was a comfortable and inexpensive trip!

Great SUV - 2007 Hyundai Veracruz
By Jared - October 13 - 11:13 amBlows Pilot out of the water. Purchased fully loaded SE. Logic 7 audio is easily on par with Bose. Mistaken for Lexus RX by friends especially after riding in it. Dead silent inside, 2nd row very comfortable, and 3rd row not bad either. Gas mileage not too shabby, transmission shifts like a dream, good call on the Aisin 6-speed. Great value for the money. Navigation not an option, but I am in the opinion that if you dont know where you are going, you should not be driving. If you must, a portable navigation system is cheaper and makes more sense. Drive it for yourself if you are shopping in this class. You are shortchanging yourself if you dont. Dont let the badge fool you.

By rhodes - September 15 - 2:10 pmI have driven this car 5000 miles. It is a pleasure to drive. I have not had any problem as of yet. It drives good on expressways and handles well and is quiet. The car gives me a safe feeling and has plenty of room in all three seats. It is an elegant looking car.

Best Vehicle ever owned - 2008 Hyundai Veracruz
By Larry Belcher - September 11 - 4:22 pmBought this Veracruz in Nov. 2007 new, traded in a Lincoln Navigator. This has been by far the best vehicle I have ever owned and I have owned numerous vehicles. It will be 10 years old on Nov. 8, 2017, currently has 306,152 miles and still runs like brand new, still looks brand new. Only had routine maintenance done up until last year and had to replace the catalytic convertors (2 of the 3) and the rotors. Id did not hesitate to spend the $$$ for repairs. I only wish they still produced this vehicle as I would but another in a New York minute. My goal is to put 500,000 miles on this vehicle before I replace it unless it just totally implodes. Very proud Hyundai Veracruz owner!!!

Glad I purchased as Veracruz - 2007 Hyundai Veracruz
By mkc99phd - August 25 - 5:00 pmI was anticipating the arrival of the Veracruz as I was looking to trade-in my mini-van. I had it narrowed down to the VC and CX-9 (GMs were just too big). Seeing the Limited made-up my mind. After 2000 miles am getting 18 mpg (all city) which is slightly better than my Caravan was getting. Driving it is a dream. Easily fits 6 when we need it too (not often). Although it doesnt have bluetooth or a NAV system, which I didnt really care about, a good portable aftermarket system that does both (iPOD compatibility too) can be added for $300-500. Its quiet, comfortable and easy to maneuver around. Its my first Hyundai and I would recommend it to anyone looking in this class.

2007 vera-cruz limited front drive - 2007 Hyundai Veracruz
By bernard n edwards - August 16 - 10:26 pmWe have had our 2007 Vera-cruz for a year and a half and it has been as usual a very good experience and other than a fuel filter upgrade recall the car is flawless and we are so proud of this beautiful black-diamond beauty and every time I drive it I am excited and feel like I am a Young kid again. The car is so smooth and the select shift is great and when we went to Florida I got 25 mpg and drove from Atlanta to cincy on a tank of fuel, and that is 500 miles, so if you people who complain about bad gas mileage, if you drive sensible you too will get this mileage. Love the high quality finish and the gorgeous inside and out and in my opinion it is the most beautiful suv on the market. Thanks
