I have a 99 GL and this is a great car that i can rely on. I picked it up new for under $11,000 and it is as comfortable as my brothers 98 Honda Civic not to mention the Hyundai is faster. I will definetly buy a new Hyundai when this car wears out.

I bought the Elantra because I needed an inexpensive car quickly. The price was right and you certainly cant beat the warranty. It is a great value. That being said, Im at the dealership FAR too regularly. The check engine light is often on, but they never find a problem. The A/C works sporadically. The temperature gauge registers hot though the technicians claim it is not running hot. Theyve advised me not to operate the A/C above setting 2 (4 settings available) as the motor burns out. The motor in mine has been replaced twice (6700 miles and 24000 miles). The radiator blew up and had to be replaced at 14000 miles.

I bought my Hyundai in January of 1999. At the time I was looking for an inexpensive car with something more to offer than most cars of this price range were offering. I have never been sorry I chose the Hyundai. The style of the car is so much better than the current models. It is reliable and has offered many miles of fun driving. I would suggest this car to anyone.

Ive had this car for just over 2 years and no problems at all-- I love it! I had intended to buy a used Jetta, but this car stole my heart and I still love to drive it. Its definitely a lot of car for the price. 5 adults fit comfortably, with plenty of room for cargo as well.

I purchased this car because it had the most bang for the buck. It has 140 horse power stock and now after a few modifications my car will give a $19k Honda SI, a run for the money. I have 120,000 miles on my car and it still running strong. I never had any problems with the car.

Fun, sporty-looking car, but not very good acceleration. Transmission slippage recall on some. Had to have tranmission replaced at 35000 miles. Check engine light has been on most of the time since. Fuel pressure sensor replaced, now service is checking some other sensors. Or might be faulty wiring. Fuel injection timer replaced shortly before 35000, of which service said is common in this model. All repairs have been covered by 60000 mile warranty. Blinker handle too short, no reminder bell if you leave your lights on, and the exterior trim on a door fell off. Plastic pieces inside that you use to close the doors come out easily.
