Overview & Reviews
Hyundai's Elantra sedan was redesigned last year, but the big news for 2002 is the release of the GT version, an all-new five-door hatchback that boasts such upscale standard equipment as a leather-trimmed interior, European suspension tuning, four-wheel disc brakes, 15-inch wheels, foglamps and a CD player. In September 2002, Hyundai announced that it had misstated the horsepower ratings for all of the models in its lineup -- the Elantra is now rated at 135 hp, rather than 140. To compensate, the company is offering owners (of 2000 models and newer) three options: 10 years of roadside assistance, 6-year/72,000-mile basic warranty coverage or 12-year/120,000-mile powertrain coverage.
- Solidly built, powerful engine for its class, plenty of standard features, ultra-low price tag.
- Funky front styling details.

Great Car - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By Tim Spradling - November 4 - 9:19 amThis Car has been the most reliable car I have ever owned in my 47 years of driving and buying cars. I have 50,000 miles on the Car and have only replaced the tires (Because I forgot to rotate them) before a trip (9,500 miles)out West in April 2006. The tires wuld have probably made it but I didnt want to take a chance. It has never required anything else. It is very quiet and looks very nice. I have no complaints whatsoever.

Great Car, Great Price - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By SPARKY - October 18 - 2:00 amI think the GT may be one of the best kept secrets in the automotive world. Theres a ton of room inside, more power under the hood than most of its competitors, and the best warranty in the business. Ive average better than 31 mpg in the 3000 miles Ive owned it and havent had a single problem.

What a Deal! - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By Cyn - June 7 - 10:00 amI traded in my 1990 Acura Integra for a new Elantra. The Integra had sports suspension, terrific handling, dual overhead CAM, and real spunk. I was afraid Id have to make a "fun" sacrifice in order to have the Hyundai Elantra. I was wrong! It handles wonderfully, corners and accelerates well. And it cost the same as my Acura did in 1989!

By Moira - June 1 - 10:00 amI love this vehicle. I was in an accident and although the vehicle was totaled I walked away unharmed. It is a smooth, fun drive and I am now buying another Elantra.
