Overview & Reviews
Hyundai's Elantra sedan was redesigned last year, but the big news for 2002 is the release of the GT version, an all-new five-door hatchback that boasts such upscale standard equipment as a leather-trimmed interior, European suspension tuning, four-wheel disc brakes, 15-inch wheels, foglamps and a CD player. In September 2002, Hyundai announced that it had misstated the horsepower ratings for all of the models in its lineup -- the Elantra is now rated at 135 hp, rather than 140. To compensate, the company is offering owners (of 2000 models and newer) three options: 10 years of roadside assistance, 6-year/72,000-mile basic warranty coverage or 12-year/120,000-mile powertrain coverage.
- Solidly built, powerful engine for its class, plenty of standard features, ultra-low price tag.
- Funky front styling details.

What an awesome value!!! - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By Daninny - June 17 - 10:00 amAwesome value, what else can I say about my 2002 Hyundai Elantra? I am a college student who was in the market for a great car at a great price and I found it. The car looks like it is worth far more then the $14,500 I paid for it - Im often told that the front end looks like that of a BMW and rare end a Mercedes. The interor is simple yet sleek.

Buy It - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By scottsaba - June 17 - 2:00 amReplaced a Civic LX with the GT, no comparison. The extras are wonderful, the sunroof appreciated. Best A/C I have ever had in any car. Snappy and responsive stick that is a great deal of fun to drive. No Squeaks or rattles. Smoooooth on the highway and VERY comfortable. Love the leather too! You cant beat the value with this car. Well made body panels are a plus. I gave the Civic to my daughter and I dont miss it one bit. The Hyundai is fun to drive, the Civic was always slow on the uptake and mushy to me.

No reason to buy anything else - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By Bobbi B. - June 11 - 10:00 amI LOVE my Elantra. Although I did a ton of research when buying this car (it was my first new car), I was still slightly nervous about buying a Hyundai. After all, people often looked at me like I was crazy when I said that I was considering a Hyundai. A little over a year later, I have absolutely NO complaints. I havent had a single problem -- not even a rattle. The car has great pickup, even with the air conditioning on (something that Ive had problems with in the past). The interior includes all kinds of nice little conveniences that you wouldnt expect for such an inexpensive car. This car is a fantastic bargain.

LITTLE CAR/BIG GUY/LOVE IT - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By Big G in Hollywood - April 29 - 10:00 amIm a big guy--62", 345 lbs. I also needed extra headroom--short legs, tall body. From the specs I saw on Edmunds, it looked like this car would fit, but I couldnt believe a Hyundai would even come close to being comfortable. I traded in my Ford Excursion for this because I run around Hollywood a lot. Wow, was I surprised. Its comfortable, its economical, and (so far) its reliable. Youre not going to find any other new car this great for less than $15,000.

Unexpected!!!!!! - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By Derese30080 - February 3 - 10:00 amI was totally shocked! When my wife and I started looking for an inexpensive second vehicle, we never thought that it would be a Hyundai; but the test drive sold us. I had no idea that it even had that much power for a Korean car. The design is just beautiful- updated and sleek- it also has a very nicely balanced sound system that I plan to add a little low-end for my liking. The colors are great to choose from and they even have nice upgrades. Totally satisfied and you will be too.

My Moms car - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By G man - February 3 - 10:00 amWe purchased this new 2001 champagne Elantra GLS for my Mother in August of 2001. We purchase package # 3 which includes the moonroof, CD player, cruise and the remote entry. WE LOVE this car!!! I cannot say one negative thing about it. It is fun to drive along with being a great looking car. We paid $14,000.00 and it listed for $15,494.00. The dealership, Twin Tier Hyundai treated us like GOLD!! I currently own a 2000 VW Beetle and 1993 Nissan Maxima. I am seriously considering trading in my 1993 Maxima, with 126,000 miles, on a new Elantra GT!! I RAVE about the Hyundai product to everyone that I know.

A Winner - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By howdymax - January 11 - 10:00 amI bought my Hyundai Elantra GLS stick about a year ago and have put about 10,000 miles on it. I traded a 2000 Beatle to get this car with all the bells and whistles. The Beatle handled like a sports car so I wasnt expecting much when I switched. What a surprise. This car handles just as well and better in some cases. Steering is better, suspension is great, trans is easier and it has lots of room inside and in the trunk. it has the same size engine as the Beatle and all the power you need in a car this size. I strongly recommend this car to anyone on a budget and even those who arent. You wont be disappointed.
