Overview & Reviews
The Elantra received a slight refresh for this year in the form of a new hood, deck lid, front and rear bumpers, grille, headlamps and taillights. Interior revisions include a redesigned instrument cluster, vents, center console and climate controls. The engine has been fitted with continuously variable valve timing, and it is now sold in SULEV or ULEV configurations (depending on the state in which it's purchased) which offer horsepower ratings of 138 and 132, respectively. The base GLS model now offers remote keyless entry as standard equipment, while GT models now have a Kenwood CD/MP3 audio system as standard.
- Solidly built, powerful engine for its class, plenty of standard features, ultralow price tag, long warranty.
- Poor offset crash test score, antilock brakes available only as a package option.

What a fun car to drive - 2004 Hyundai Elantra
By Jong - August 10 - 10:00 amThis is such a well-built car, very fun to drive and cost much less than its competitors such as Civic and Corolla. If anyone is shopping around for a small sedan this is the choice that one should not miss.

Great Car - 2004 Hyundai Elantra
By Leslie85 - August 10 - 2:00 amI love this car. I wish I had gotten it a while ago. Competatively priced and I only have a $185 a month car payment and I am 18 so that is great. I hope everyone has good luck with theirs as well!

To Elantra and beyond....! - 2004 Hyundai Elantra
By jamrom - July 4 - 2:00 amI previously owned a 1996 Subaru Legacy, which needless to say was great in the snow and rain, but was a mechanical disater. I always buy on quality based on previous mechanical history and OWNERS reviews. I have to say that after 2 months of reseach and a lot of comparing, I was very satified with my decision until I bought it... now Im extatic about my decision. Its not only practical, but sporty, attractive and built to last (not like a tank though). If its within your budget, opt for package 4, it includes the ABS/TCS sys, upgraded CD/speakers, and a few other nice options. You cannot get a better price with all the options in this car.

cant touch the deal - 2004 Hyundai Elantra
By m & m - May 16 - 2:00 amDoes everything I ask it to and at that kind of money, Honda, Toyota, Mazda, none can touch it. Gets me from here to there (commutes over 120 miles) with no fuss and easily cruises at high speeds. Big back seat fits car poolers and more than enough power to pass.

Love my GT! - 2004 Hyundai Elantra
By Dovid2 - May 11 - 10:00 amI have been following this car since its inception. I was finally able to buy one in December. My round-trip commute is 75 miles and the car is still fun to drive and comfortable and I look forward to getting in it every day. My only quibble is the radio, which is geared toward a younger market and somewhat inconvenient to use, although it sounds great and the remote helps.

04 GLS Elantra - 2004 Hyundai Elantra
By Ashley - April 21 - 7:28 pmBought the car brand new. Very good for about 1.5 years, then had to replace brake pads 2 times in 1 year, among other problems. Not good handling, car does not want to turn. No acceleration.

Love this car! - 2004 Hyundai Elantra

Very good vehicle - 2004 Hyundai Elantra
By NormE - March 9 - 7:42 pmMy Elantra GT has been my first experience with leasing. When the lease expires in June, I will be sorry to let it go. I need more storage than the hatchback allows for several sets of golf clubs. Everything else about the vehicle has been above average. One missing nicety is a hatch release from inside I cannot understand why this has been overlooked.

Bang For Your Buck - 2004 Hyundai Elantra
By Valubuyer - February 15 - 10:00 amIve owned my GT Hatchback for 30 days now. I have found it to be a fantastic car. I realize there are a significant percentage of buyers out there who will not be satisfied unless they have paid a lot of money for their vehicle. Try as you might, you will be unable to pay more than $14,000, so you folks will need to look elsewhere. I went with the hatchback vs. the sedan trim based on the distinctive style. A word of caution however; the hatchback model with ABS/moonroof package seems to be a pretty rare animal. Be prepared to wait for delivery.
