Overview & Reviews
In an effort to mold its image into that of a serious first-rate automobile manufacturer, Hyundai has recently added standard equipment and enhanced the performance of several of its cars. The redesigned Accent and new Sonata are proving that this South Korean automaker has finally learned how to build a good car. The current Elantra provides even more proof, and the company offers an industry-leading warranty program to back it up.
- Solidly built, powerful engine for its class, plenty of standard features.
- The price on this "inexpensive" Korean car keeps going up.

Decent Set of Wheels - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By nobrainr - October 28 - 2:00 amThis car is comfortable and is easy to drive both long and short distances in. Smooth Start from the line, but could use a little more kick. Great for a family.

Good overall, except for transmition - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By DJD - October 4 - 2:00 amI bought this car for value and I think I have it. Ill be paying it off tomorrow and know that with the warranties its guaranteed to last many more years! The transmition is my biggest complaint since its not-so- tight and it had to be repaired. Hyundais not perfect but theyve come a long way, baby! So many standard features for very little money.

A tank of a car! - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By Mark Ox - August 15 - 2:00 amI bought this car because it was the largest in its class, most HP, and lowest price with the best waranty. The car has been great, very quick, MPG, and you can not break it. Every morning it just starts right up and goes. The perfect econo wagon!

2000 Elantra - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By grapejuice - August 15 - 2:00 amThis a been one of the most trouble free cars I have ever owned. I have had warrannty service performed on two different occasions by a dealership other than where I bought the car. Both times I was treated as if I had bought ten cars form them. Service has been excellent. The only complaint I have is that the paint is not holding up and Hyndai doent want to do anything about it. Gas milage is not what I expected in a small car with a for cylinder engine.

2000 Hyundai Elantra VE - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By Chris Richardson - July 5 - 10:00 amThis stylish car has been through 2 Canadian winters, with not a thing gone wrong with it. I wouldve awarded it first for the Edmunds 2000 Economy Car Comparison, because Ive test driven the other 2 that were ahead of it, and they just dont compare. Of course, the price is a pure bargain for what you get: class leading horsepower, a killer CD sound system, power everything, comfort, style, and an engine that can really move! This is, by far, the best 2000 economy car around, and the redesigned 2001 Elantra proves to be even better, way to go Hyundai!

Black Beauty - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By Bran Da Man - June 20 - 2:00 amI have a black elantra with a spoiler shes beautiful. She is so fun to drive and when I tell you I drive her I drive her hard. I pit her against mustangs and Cmaros and Vetts (although I have been laughed at numerous occasions, Its still fun. But I have no problem smokin civics with v-tech. The only real problems I had with her is that I had to get 3 new alternators and a new spark plug. I hooked up all sorts of audio equipment to the battery and thats when my alternators started going. Other than that she is a very reliable car.

Nothing but problems - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By Kat - June 3 - 8:26 amI have owned my Hyundai for two years (this month), and I have had nothign but problems. The car is in the shop at least every 3 months. I have already had to get 2 igintion coils replaces, the transmittions replaced (and its going bad again), the catalitic converter replaced, the driver window fell off, the blower motor replaced. I got better gas milage in my 79 Ford LTD than this car after the first 3,000 miles. I WILL be getting a new car before the warrenty is up. Thank goodness for the warrenty!
