Cons:
  • Feels massive, some cheap interior materials, limited cargo room.

My hummer is a 2003, I bought it on 2004 used with very little mileage, since then I have enjoyed it. Took it off road and getting it dirty, hauling my travel trailer going camping on the mountains of New Mexico. About two years ago I decided stay off the dirt and rough terrain and started to customized it with bigger sound system, 28" rims and tires, chrome, and lots of more extras. (is very clean. Now Im the envy of the neighborhood, everybody have something to say about my "hummer":)

This is the car you buy if you want people to look up to you, literally. Decent power but the gas mileage is brutal. Definetely the kind of car for showing off around town.

The H2 is a fun, cool vehicle to drive if you like attention and one of the biggest vehicle on the road. Lot of interior room, except in thrid row seat. Power is ample and diesel sould be an option. Make one fit somehow. Has some blind spots. Great for road trips, hard to park in small spaces.

  • Fun car... at first - 2003 Hummer H2

I have had my Hummer for 3 years. I bought it because my friend let me drive his when it first came out. I fell in love with the comfort and looks. 2 years later my friend was taking an offramp in his H2 and there was a muffler on the road. The H2s inside wheel went over the debris and the Hummer rolled. He was wearing his seatbelt and is not a fast driver, but the roll made him paralyzed. His incident has scared me and Im now looking for a large safe car like the Volvo S80. Something with a lower center of gravity that is less likely to roll. My H2 was very fun to drive at first, but I grew out of it after a couple months.

Ive been work with AM General for about two weeks now. My job is to learn how to drive the H2 on AM Generals off road course. Starting monday Ill be teaching others how to drive it off road. After getting behind the wheel of this monster, you wont want any other truck! I had the chance two days ago to take the truck to the Indiana National Dunes and try it out on my own. It ran over trees with ease, it did 100ft. dunes like speed bumps. I pulled up next to a guy in a Jeep Cherokee. I said, "Hey man, nice truck. My mom has one just like it." He then wanted to race me; so I tore hime a new rear with the H2s 6 litre V8 with 316hp.

  • great SUV, but safety warning - 2003 Hummer H2

I have had month to drive my Hummer and am generally and favorably impressed. My wife will be happier when I get the spare mounted on the back end. I found one potentially serious safety problem. THe front wheels are so far forward that when you hit standing water on the road during a heavy rain, it tends to plow the water up and forward in thick sheet that completely blinds the driver. The first time it happens is scarey. One needs to be prepared for this event since you will then experience 2-3 seconds without forward vision on the road.

  • Its not all that - 2003 Hummer H2

The H2 missed the mark. Its grossly underpowered, the sound system is lack- luster at best. Regarding AC, you can get colder by standing in front of an open refrigerator. I understand this is AM General attempt to tame a "wild beast" .. It seems several engineers were absent from design meetings .. (power-plant engineer, HVAC engineer, sound system engineer).. The new Hummer has been presented in a kinder and gentler way. It has attitude in terms of looks, but nothing to back it up ..(engine, AC, sound system).. Sales goals for this vehicle should be revised down sharply.

  • What were they thinking? - 2003 Hummer H2

Based on the non-negotiable price ($55, 000 fully loaded), the vehicle is underpowered, the ac doesnt cool & the stereo didnt have any kick. As a woman, I felt safe in the vehicle, but it was overshadowed by the inability to accelerate and merge. Dont get me wrong, the truck looks and it "climb" over things, but how many times will I actually take it off road? Maybe twice. Stop production and re-engineer the vehicle before it is deemed with a wicked nickname (ex. Ford Exploder). I understand the H2 is heavy, but the engine should have been properly sized.

  • Car has inordinate amount of rust - 2003 Hummer H2
    By -

Car is rusted underneath the car including brake discs, side steps and even inside where rear seat attaches. I have had the car a little over three years. I do not take it off road. I am older and do not have pets or kids in the car. The air pressure device that helps opens the rear hatch broke and the door fell on my head. The plastic rear handle fell off ($500), the interior plastic panel on the door fell off. Last year the windshield wiper motor froze and not from the weather ($600) I like the car and would get another except for all the rust. They had a hard time putting new brakes on because of it.
