Overview & Reviews
Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.
Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

What in the World? - 2016 Honda Pilot
By Lori - April 11 - 2:04 amJunk junk, junk just changing the radio station is dangerous. The engine knocks when I turn corners. My rear window will not go down. When I put the car in park it slides several feet forward or back. I have to use the emergency brake every time I park even on flat roads. The gear fobs on the steering wheel are a mystery to me. I could be on a freeway going 75 and accidentally hit one of those and my car downshifts into D6. Very dangerous. I cant seem to shift back unless i look down and desperatly get it back into drive. I do not know how to bypass that feature even looking at my owners manual. My car is always dinging. Why? I cant get that to stop. My drive button is no longer readable the plastic has worn off. My exceleration is a total joke. I have to put the gas pedal to the metal just to get it to go. The windows fog up instantly making it hard to see. I need to blast the defroster or pull over till I can see. I used to have the old pilot and I wish I would have kept it. I am sure there is more that I have problems with. We are looking to a another car company to trade in this piece of crap. Actually running. Over priced and worthless. On another note, I have mentioned these to the dealership and they just say that it is user error and they have had no complaints.

Owned my Honda Pilot Touring for 33 days - 2016 Honda Pilot
By Shawna - March 5 - 3:29 amI purchased a 2016 Pilot Touring after my 2014 Pilot Touring had electrical problems. It was the worst decision that I have made. After 33 days, while backing out of my garage, I noticed a large puddle of fluid and drops leading out of the garage. I took the vehicle to the dealer the next day. On my way to the dealer, the transmission started slipping and there was a squealing noise. I was terrified, and knew that it was the transmission. After 2 hours at the dealer, they determined that it was the transmission, and that they would need to order a part. It would take 3-4 days to get the part and fix the car. Yes, FIX THE CAR, that I had owned for 33 days, and had paid $45,000 for. I told them that I did not want the car, and that they needed to give me my money back. They offered $39,500. So, I was going to be out $5,500 for a defective vehicle. I demanded to speak with the manager. After nearly 6 hours at the dealer, with my two kids, the manager offered $44,000. In total I was out $1,300, but was too tired to fight. Chalk it up to lesson learned. I now have no car, a stained garage, am out $1,300 and have to start the car shopping process again. Shame on you Honda.

Bad Truck - 2005 Honda Pilot
By disgruntled - November 10 - 8:44 pmThis is by far one of the worst vehicles that I have ever owned. This truck overheats. The heads went bad the vehicle is a total disaster. Seats are uncomfortable. Interior lights, light up on their own. Would not recommend the car. Would not buy again. I have owned Hondas in the past and this is by far a poorly made car.

This car is DANGEROUS! Worst software ever! - 2016 Honda Pilot
By NoLongerAFan - September 18 - 7:16 am1) Left my wife stranded -- Put the car in reverse, foot on brake, not moving, then pressed the stop button. Car locked her out and wouldnt start. Had to mess with locks and start button for 30 minutes before the car reset itself. 2) Transmission is UNSAFE! -- 9 speed cant find the right gear, car stutters, will LAUNCH you downhill. Low speed driving is terrible, cant maintain a constant speed. Seems like really bad software making gear decisions. 3) Lane assist is DANGEROUS! -- Cant help you at all, will not hold the lane. Hey Honda, either you steer or I steer, but whoever is steering better be really good at it. Steering is NOT a cooperative activity! Dont "assist" me with steering unless it can be trusted. 4) So many little software problems. Remembers the seat position incorrectly. 5) Worst entertainment center ever. Seems designed in 1998. Cant use the nav while moving, seriously? I can mess with the radio all day, using the most confusing and distracting software ever devised, but I cant use the nav? 6) The car Dings at uss constantly and randomly. Its trying to tell us something, I have no idea what it is saying. DING .. wait a few minutes -- DING! Who wrote the software for this car, my kids could have done a better job!

Rear differential leaking oil after 176 miles - 2016 Honda Pilot
By Patrick - July 27 - 1:02 pmBuyers beware: Purchased AWD EX-L model two weeks ago. Noticed oil on garage floor. Oil leaking from rear differential (AWD model). Vehicle is at dealership and service department is contacting Honda. Was happy with the overall performance / ride of the 2016 pilot but reliability is most important to me. Very disappointed.

By Christopher Mason - July 8 - 10:03 pmBought a 2005 Pilot with 150k on the engine. Ran great and girlfriend loved it (her car) until the transmission just went out. This is a know issue and I really wish Id caught it before dumping $10k plus over $1k for new tires and breaks. Car didnt last a year. Bought Honda because like most we thought they ran forever. Never again.

Whimpy "Pretend SUV" - 2004 Honda Pilot
By Stuck in a Snow Bank - April 3 - 2:00 amHonda cars are pretty good...but their SUVs are pretentious Wannabes!! I traded my 2000 Civic on this pilot and quickly found myself stuck in small snow bank. A passing by Jeep Liberty had to pull me out and tore the front end of my pilot clean off and commented how Whimpy my Honda is!! At anyrate, I traded my pilot on a liberty and the difference is like comparing a coke can to a bank vault!

Excited by the Pilot?? NOPE! - 2006 Honda Pilot
By Honda Pilot - April 1 - 1:53 amMy husband insisted on the Pilot 06. I am NOT impressed and a bit disappointed. The car gets nowhere near the reported mileage... poor at best. The controls are awkward, the seat on passenger side is uncomfortable and non electric. The seat belt alarm never stops. The nav system is impossible to use and has no return feature... very inconvenient and overpriced. I would never encourage anyone to purchase the vehicle. I think Honda missed the mark. I will get out of this car ASAP. I want to know why the gas mileage is so poor and the A/C takes too long to cool down and the wipers are difficult to trun off or change speed. Do not buy!
