Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Safety # 1 - 2008 Honda Pilot

I am recovering from a car accident. I was hit by a Cadillac Escalade. I was not moving, he T-boned me at approx 40 mph. I flipped over. The side airbag deployed, I had on my belt. I have 1 broken bone, fortunate to be alive. The police and hospital both said how lucky I am. You only get 1 chance in an accident, so choose the safest vehicle on the market. This has 5 stars, the top. This is a great vehicle to drive and very safe. I am going to buy the 2009.

  • Great 8 Passenger Compromise - 2006 Honda Pilot

Our Pilot is a great compromise between a mini-van and a large SUV. We wanted three rows of seating, with enough room in the third to accomodate teens for rides of up to one hour. Handling and ride are car-like, ergonomics are good, interior design is simple and attractive and the vehicle is comfortable for 4-6 persons, at least long enough to get everyone to sports practice. Six-airbag setup was a must and is standard. Mileage with the Pilot is merely OK (17 mpg in town and 24 mpg at a steady 80 mph. If you regularly haul more than 5 for long periods of time, look at a larger minivan instead.

I bought my pilot ex-l at the end of march and so far I love it. It is a very versatile vehichle that can accomadate up to 8 passengers or just 2 with lots of cargo space. Good power for a v-6 excellent overall features. The pilot is very agile and can turn corners or make u-turns easily. Drives somewhat like a car in that regard. I highly recommend.

The car is perfect in every way. It does 0-60 in 7.4 sec. that is also with fulltime 4WD. The comfort is excellent and rides just like a car (very smooth). Its fuel economy isnt so hot (16-19), but thats O.K. The build quality is excellent because its a honda (duh). And the kids love watching movies. It got a ***** (five star) safety crash rating. So now the kids beg me to drive them in the Pilot.

Fell in love after and bought the car after first test drive. Was close to getting the Highlander. Thought this is a better deal given third row seating, sturdier look and feel, better sound system, manly interior design.

16-17 mpg city driving with AC. 20-23 mpg hwy up/down I-95 with AC. Very smooth ride great acceleration merging into traffic accommodates our family of 5 around town easy to park fun to drive. I purchased this SUV in Feb 08, and I would but another one tomorrow if I could.

  • Soccer Moms May Love It-I Sure Dont - 2005 Honda Pilot
    By -

Had it for 3 weeks, bought it brand new. Front end has a vibration right at 70 MPH which the dealer has so far been unable to correct. Check engine light came on after 2 weeks, and its in the shop for the 2nd straight day. It takes about 10 minutes to fill up the gas tank. At highway speeds, a little accelerator pressure results in constant downshifts and hunting for the right gear. Theres hesitation when slowing down and then hitting the gas. After having a Grand Cherokee V-8 for 8 years, this is a disappointing vehicle. Maybe it is a good soccer mom car to cruise around town in, but Im used to a traditional SUV, and this isnt traditional.
