Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

We love this SUV so much, it moves very fast, just like rocket, fun to drive. The 4x4 is very fantastic. I enjoy driving in turbulent off road terrain. It is a wonderful SUV. Will recommend it for every one.

  • 1st AWD a GOOD Experience! - 2004 Honda Pilot

Our best experience has been the ability to safely go up and down our steep, gravel road to our country home. The road is approxmately one mile long and we used to take our van. We would slip, hit bottom and hope we would make it. The 1st time we took the Pilot, the remark was - - why didnt we get this car a long time ago?

  • BUY THIS ONE! - 2005 Honda Pilot

With a family of five (3 kids 9,6,&4), we desired an SUV w/ a third row and a dvd. I personally desired leather. After months of research, it came down to the 2005 Pilot and the 2005 Pathfinder. With basically the same amenities, the Honda came in about $3,000 less than the Pathfinder. We are extremely pleased with our purchase. The Pilot has excellent room and superb power. If you are looking for a so-called "mid-size" SUV, BUY THE PILOT!

We purchased this vehicle to replace our 2004 Ford Explorer. We looked at the Toyota Highlander and Mazda CX-9. Our criteria was 4WD, third row seat, class 3 trailer hitch, good resale value, quality and gas mileage at least in the low 20s. As soon as I sat in the Honda I felt right at home. The controls, storage spaces, seats, everything just felt better. Weve driven it on one trip and have put about 1.5K mile on it. The gas mileage is as advertised. No regrets.

  • BEST MID SIZE/LARGE SUV! - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

We have had our 06 Pilot LX for almost 2 months and we absolutely love it! My wife and I spend a considerable amount of time driving an 05 Cadillac Sedan Deville, and we honestly think that our Pilot is every bit as nice, minus a few of Cadillacs luxury features- if those luxury features are a must, buy an Acura MDX which is basically the same as a Pilot. I have driven several different SUVs and they usually feel like trucks, but not the Pilot! Its almost like driving a large sedan. Honda has discovered SUV perfection, and its the Pilot! If you read reviews on as many web sites as possible, you will find that most experts would agree!

  • Best SUV I have ever had. - 2005 Honda Pilot

We bought this 2005 EX-L to replace a 2003 Pilot. After 57,00 miles, this has been the best driving SUV I have ever owned. The power was surprisingly peppy. It is easy to maneuver and drives more like a car than a truck. I am having a difficult time justifying paying up for a 2009 Pilot that weighs 177 pounds more, 3ft pounds more torque, but 5 less horsepower (250 vs 255). I added the tow package on myself and tow my motorcycles, Waverunner, and loaded utility trailer weighing 2000#+ with ease through Wisconsin hills. I bought an aftermarket Garmin GPS and dont really miss any of the other new gadgets. We have had a few minor problems that were covered by the warranty. Great in snow/ice.

  • Tippy Truck - 2007 Honda Pilot

We bought this vehicle mostly because we disliked it the least. Coming out of driving only cars, I am appalled at how poorly this thing handles. Steering response is so slow mushy that I feel like I am sending signals to the engine room ("hard aport!") whenever I make a steering adjustment. Also, I was very surprised that the 6disk CD changer does not play mp3 encoded disks. On the plus side, the build quality is excellent, the engine is quite and responsive and the seating arrangement is very versatile

  • Nicest SUV for the money I have ever owned - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I have had Tahoes (3) Escalades Blazers and traded a 2009 pilot in for the 2016. I cannot believe how much a leap forward the new pilot is. It checks all of my boxes, main thing is the ability to carry up to 8 in comfort (including the rear seats). The ride and road manners are great seems much more spacious than the 2009 and the fuel economy is aces. We average around 30 MPG on the road per the trip computer. A++++++++
