Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Functional Delight - 2009 Honda Pilot

This is my second Honda after owning a 90 Accord LX that Ive long touted as the best vehicle Ive ever owned. It was an easy choice after shopping the Toyota 4Runner that didnt have the interior space or standard 3rd row seating and the Nissan Pathfinder that lacked interior refinement and the confusing array of packages that came standard with my EX-L. Honda has definitely put a lot of thought into this vehicle. It has been a thrill learning all the things this vehicle is capable of and with all the interior space it keeps my two boys separated and comfortable on long excursions.

  • Best in class SUV Hands Down for the $$$ - 2009 Honda Pilot

I have had this vehicle close to 3 months now and I love it!!! I test drove the Mazda CX-9, Toyota Highlander, and the Pilot. The Pilot blew away the competition in the areas of ride quality, ease and accessibility, to the 2nd and 3rd row seats, well thought out storage. This Touring model has everything you would need. I love the instrumentation cluster, the integrated IPOD capability, heated seats, NAV. Its actually pretty easy to park this big rig because of the parking sensors and slick rear camera. My daughter enjoys the DVD rear entertainment system with wireless headphones. The 3 zone Climate control is great. Voice command, Hands free link, bluetooth are a dream come true

  • Bluetooth phone not very good - 2009 Honda Pilot
    By -

I have had my Pilot since Sept 08. It is my 5th new Honda but my first SUV ever. I was a little unsure if Id like a larger vehicle, but I really like driving the Pilot. Being higher makes it much easier to see, plus I feel safer on the road. I love everything about my Pilot EXCEPT I was really looking forward to the hands- free Bluetooth phone integrated into the navigation/stereo system. I am very disappointed in its performance. The quality of the phone call on the other end is bad...I always have people telling me they cant hear me very well at all - they say I sound like Im in a cave. Other than that negative, and the gas mileage which I dont love, I really like my Pilot!

Great car - but I dont find the city driving to be at 18mph. Also, visibility issues when making tough right or left turns. The body of the car surrounding the windshield is wide and it impedes visibility.

  • SO FAR SO GOOD - 2004 Honda Pilot

Would make the Honda Pilot a perfect Vehicle if the doors locked automatically when put in to drive

  • Love this SUV - 2004 Honda Pilot

After much research, we were torn between the Highlander and the Pilot. After test driving both, we chose the Pilot. It is roomy and dependable. The smooth ride cant be compared.

  • Design Flaws - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

We know 6 people with 06 or late Pilots- all have been into dealer because mice crawled into to HVAC. Why? Its not covered enough in undercarriage. Design flaw. $250 each visit. Side trim on front leather seat on ours (and 3 others wecknow of) has worn through. Why? Cheap material. Design flaw. We get snow. Dont buy a Pilot with 4WD and expect anything but nasty control issues on slippery roads and steep roads: ABS locks up, auto 4WD has no bite (even with new mud/snow tires). Design flaws. If you need room, good traction and no mice or trim issues, buy something else.

  • Beyond Luxury Class...Best SUV Yet. - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

It seems like Honda didnt spare anything. We traded in a Lexus for this Pilot and I was worried about loosing some luxury comforts...This Pilot is much more than my Lexus. Better audio (much better sub-woofer), DVD, third row seating, more cargo, great interior design, plenty of storage, etc...for much less.

  • 28,000 miles on 2016 AWD touring elite - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I purchased my 2016 AWD touring elite in late July of 2015. In 8.5 months I have driven over 28,000 miles. I sold a 2011 Lexus LX 570 for the pilot. Same comfort and room but with better gas mileage, technology and price. Average 23 mpg in town and 28 mpg hwy Smooth ride Quite cabin Plenty of interior room with cup holders and power outlets everywhere. While the 9 speed transmission takes a little time to get use too it works as designed for saving fuel My only two issues-non folding side mirrors and the front windshield is a rock magnet as I have replace the front windshield 2x in the 8.5 months.

  • Great Mid Size SUV - 2006 Honda Pilot

My Pilot rides just like a car. Handles well around turns and is a joy to drive. It even gets the MPG it says on the sticker! Great buy.
