Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

Me and my wife are both over 70 and we took ownership of our PILOT a little over 3 months ago. We just love it , cant say enough good things about it. The best thing for me is how the seats are, I have a bad back and was usually only able to sit in a vehicle for little over an hour before I had to stretch. I have driven for over 3 hours in our new pilot with very little discomfort. We are always travling and we are headed to LAS VEGAS in about 3 weeks.

I traded in a 96 Toyota Camry on my new Pilot and havent looked back. I was used to a quite ride with the Camry, and the Pilot offers the same (which is surprising for a mid-size SUV). Ive only had it a week, but so far its been everything I wanted in a new vehicle -- comfort, roominess, smooth ride, performance and style. Honda has done a superb job of focusing on details, from the placement of controls to the feel of the leather seats. The interior is spacious and the center console is a great organizer for CDs, DVDs, cell phone, etc. The DVD player is a "BIG HIT" with my two 5 year olds.

  • Best vehicle ever owned - 2009 Honda Pilot

Every time I drive my pilot I enjoy the experience. The pilot is not the most powerful or the fastest stopping or the smoothest riding midsize but when you add everything up it is very capable and a beautiful vehicle. hwy mileage up to 26mpg- city 16mpg--it all depends on driving habits and conditions. I love the way it looks-- love the grille-love the way it drives. Some of the reviewers are not that impressed with the pilot but it is a vehicle that I love to see in my driveway. Most people pay more for a crv than I did for my pilot. Honda has hit a home run with the pilot. Absolutely trouble free- and hopefully it will stay that way!!!

  • Not too proud of honda - 2009 Honda Pilot

After purchasing a 2009 Honda ex-l pilot I realize that the pre-wiring connection was a dummy connection. I am not able to connect a trailer wiring harness unless I purchase the expensive kit from Honda. The kit cost more than if I had bought the tow hitch separate and had it wired. I also found out splicing into the wiring voids the warranty. Then I learned that remote start is a problem. Turning the car off after remote start just to enter the car is the dumbest idea I ever heard. It is my understanding both of these feature was pre-figure to get you to come back to Honda. I just wonder what else have Honda done to steer you back to them. My first Honda and my last. Bad mistake of Honda.

Bought the SUV one month ago. So far we love it. Too soon to tell about reliability, but were optimistic.

The Pilot has a smooth and quiet ride which was a bit of a surprise. Handling and braking are great. Although you wont win any drag races with the Pilot, the acceleration is more than adequate.

  • Awesome SUV - 2004 Honda Pilot

Extremely happy with our new 2004 Honda Pilot EX w/ Nav System. I recently drove to Napa in our Pilot and the ride was very enjoyable. I loved the 240 V6 horse power, the convenient volume adjustment buttons on the steering wheel, the improved Nav system (proved especially helpful when taking some back roads) and the heated seats. It did take me a while to get used to driving the SUV as it does feel like you are driving a truck at times. But you get over that very quickly. With the third row back seats down the extra cargo space was really helpful. Pricing was also very reasonable at $32,500 (which included destination fee and trunk mat).
