Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

I love the pilot for the roomy cabin, great ride, driving position and handling. I have owned 10 Hondas and this one has not disappointed.

  • So far So Good - 2009 Honda Pilot
    By -

I purchased in January 2009. I like almost everything but a little disappointed in the gas mileage. The inside nice and roomy, I love the leather seats. I added a woodgrain dash which gave it a very rich look. I also installed after market remote starter, alarm and keypad entry. I am quite satisfied after 7000 miles, but definitely needs better mileage. I live in the city of Boston so 90% of driving is city miles. Probably getting 13-14 mph city. The pickup could be a little better, but its adequate. I have a heavy foot. Overall I am happy.

  • Better SUV in the market - 2009 Honda Pilot

This new Pilot not only looks great but it performs great too! We test drove other SUVs but the Pilot not only captured us with its looks but now that we have own the car for a month, we can say the performance is excellent too. Fuel economy for having the shut-off piston system is a bit disappointing but nevertheless, it is on par with the competition. We purchased the Touring w/nav and we couldnt be happier. Some say the road noise is a problem, but we did not find it to be that bad. I also read that the engine does not provide as much power but I actually think it has adequate power (unless you intend to pull a boat or something like that). Overall very satisfied and highly recommend it.

  • 3 Years of Driving - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

As the title states, Ive owned my 03 for 3 years. In that time, Ive put 60K miles on it and drove it from AK to FL and several trips in the CONUS. No major issues. Minor issues: recommended tune-ups are costly, both the 60K mile tuneup and 90K mile tune-up were around $1000 each. To get fully installed towing package, another $1000. Drive train belt, another grand. At 100K miles, just as another owner here stated, my speaker system is going downhill. During long trips, I notice a buzzing sound coming out of the speakers. Annoying enough to shut music off. Great storage cubbies in front for maps, flashlights, etc.

  • Terrible radio! - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

This car has a radio issue that has yet to be addressed by Honda. It crackles, fades, and volume fluctuates. It seems to go in and out of mono and stereo on a radio station that is right down the street from me. The speedometer is too high on the dash and from my seating position I can only view it when I look under the top of the steering wheel.

  • Excellent Choice - 2009 Honda Pilot
    By -

We chose the Pilot over the Buick Enclave and traded in our Buick Ranier (which we had thoroughly enjoyed for almost 5 years). The Pilot has more than exceeded our expectations and, at this point, is the most enjoyable vehicle we have ever owned. Increased gas mileage over the Ranier is also a plus. The Pilot has the best-designed and most usable, roomy interior we have ever seen. Combine that with a striking exterior and fun-to-drive performance, then wrap it up in Honda dependability and you have a package that is hard to beat. Did I mention that the Pilot was $6000 less than the Enclave? We also own a Honda Ridgeline and love both of our Hondas!

  • Value for the money - 2009 Honda Pilot

Solid performance. Strong build. Excellent fuel economy (got 23 mile on long trip and inner city around 19).

  • From CR-V to Pilot - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

I just recently brought a Pilot and I love everything about this vehicle because of more space and comfort. I went from CRV to Pilot which was a huge upgrade. The CRV was a great small SUV but wanted something bigger for hauling things for my small business and to tow a camper trailer. It also gets great gas mileage for the sizes of the vehicle and been getting 21 and 22 mpg in town and a little highway mixed. Cant wait to drive it longer on the highway and see if it gets 26 mpg. It looks similar to the CRV but its nicer inside and outside and it drives quiet and rides softer than the CRV.

  • Best vehicle Ive ever owned - 2007 Honda Pilot

After a lot of research and many test drives, the Honda Pilot was the one that grabbed my heart. I always did like Honda because they are generally very reliable vehicles. I love the interior design and the comfortable ride the Pilot offers. It really fits all of my family needs.

  • I enjoy my Honda Pilot - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

Overall, it rocks. I like the spacious interior, driving it is a joy. The fold- down third row seats provide ample cargo space. Even though I have yet to achieve the advertised gas milage, I believe itll improve over time (I only got 1500 miles on it). Typical Honda engineering and craftsmanship, I have had no problem with my Pilot. Ill recommend anyone looking for a practical midsize SUV to consider a Honda Pilot.
